Velosity Forest Lake is searching for a Sr. Sustaining Quality Engineer to support our manufacturing facility in Forest Lake, MN. The Sr. Sustaining Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting production through engineering change protocols, product requalification's, and data-driven quality improvements. This role serves as the face of the company for customer interactions related to production support and acts as the voice of the customer within internal teams. The Senior QE will lead root cause investigations, address customer complaints, and drive corrective and preventive actions while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

This is an on-site position.

The typical pay range for this role: $84,000 - $110,000. This role is also eligible for our 5% quarterly bonus target.

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead and execute product requalification activities to ensure continued compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Develop, review, and implement engineering change protocols for updates and modifications to production products.
  • Perform data analysis and generate technical reports to support product changes, validations, and quality improvements.
  • Serve as the primary quality contact for customer interactions related to production support, complaints, and inquiries.
  • Act as the voice of the customer within internal teams to ensure feedback is addressed and integrated into quality processes.
  • Investigate and determine root cause of product quality issues and customer complaints and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Management, Operations, Estimating, Purchasing, and Customer Service to resolve quality issues and support production needs.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and participating in audit activities.
  • Maintain and update inspection plans, methods, and documentation for sustaining products.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior quality team members and interns.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to procedures, workflows, and product quality.
  • Support CAPA activities and ensure timely closure of quality events.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in quality or equivalent experience.
  • ASQ CQE certification a plus.
  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in quality with a minimum of one year in plastic injection molding.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality engineering within medical devices, Aerospace & defense or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of contract manufacturing processes; knowledge of print reading, including GD&T; knowledge of inspection methods, measuring equipment, i.e. CMM's, Vision systems etc. and validation protocols.
  • To be able to perform daily tasks safely; to work independently with limited supervision; To be able to effectively apply problem solving techniques and work with customers, vendors and other departments; to manage multiple priorities.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Walking is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and move objects in a safe manner using proper equipment. Must have dexterity with hands.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner (results oriented); Ability to make decisions with limited information.

Work Environment:

This is a non-smoking, professional manufacturing shop with normal lighting and climate control. This position may require one to move throughout the shop and office and may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding/ Precision Machining shop.

Protective Clothing Required:

When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
