Machine Operator 1: 2nd Shift/ Salisbury, MA

JOB CLASSIFICATION:

Hourly, Non-Exempt

POSITION REPORTS TO:

Shift Production Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring production equipment under close supervision. This entry-level position focuses on following established procedures to support production schedules, maintain product quality, and ensure safe machine operation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate assigned equipment to meet daily production schedules.
  • Assist with machine setup and basic adjustments with supervisor guidance.
  • Load/unload raw materials and finished goods from machines as necessary.
  • Monitor output for quality and report any issues immediately.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and organized.
  • Accurately complete required logs or paperwork.
  • Follow all safety rules, company policies, and standard procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Production efficiency and adherence to schedule.
  • Quality of products produced.
  • Safe operation of equipment.
  • Attendance and reliability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School degree or GED
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and with the ability to understand and communicate ideas both verbally and written.
  • Ability to read and follow production schedules.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong attention to safety and quality standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to speak, read, write in both English and Spanish
  • At least three months of related experience preferred
  • Familiar with the operation of production machinery

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Safety Eyewear (additional when executing certain tasks)
  • Steel Toe Safety Shoes
  • Hairnet
  • Cut resistant gloves, chemical gloves, etc. as needed
  • Hard hat as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION

1. Standing: Ability to stand while working 95% of the day

  1. Sitting: Ability to sit down 5% of the day
  1. Moving: Ability to move throughout plant: 100% of the day
  1. Lifting: Ability toliftto60 lbs. 100% of the day
  1. Ascending/Descending:Ability to walk upstairs,climb to top of range (approx. 16 ft) 75% of the day
  1. Push/Pull/Reach: Ability to push/pull fabric rolls,A-frames (approx.1500lbs)10% of the day
  1. Bending: Ability to pick up objects from the floor 25% of the day
  1. Visual Acuity: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. 5% of the day
  2. Cognitive: Alert. Able to make decisions, reason, and understand information.100% of the day

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION

This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud. Temperatures can vary depending upon the time of year and outside impacts.

SHIFT/WORK HOURS

Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands.
