Job Description

The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Constituent Units will provide strategic leadership for nine schools and colleges, plus two units. This role will work closely with the Vice Chancellor for Advancement, advancement leadership, academic leaders, and campus partners, bringing together a comprehensive approach to fundraising and inspirational opportunities in support of the University of Missouri. This role will be poised to serve on the Advancement leadership team at a pivotal time, as Mizzou launches its largest fundraising campaign in fall 2025.

The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Constituent Units will report to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement. The Assistant Vice Chancellor will have twelve senior-level direct reports and assist other staff members to leverage their respective skills for donor and prospect engagement. The overall team is comprised of more than 40 individuals, with the majority focused on major gift fundraising.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a high-performing team focused on major gift fundraising across assigned units.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to deans, senior academic administrators, department heads, faculty, and staff.
  • Contribute to principal gift strategies and donor engagement across constituent units and university-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal units, including Information Services, Donor Relations, Analytics, Regional Team, Gift Planning, and Corporate and Foundation Relations, to optimize fundraising outcomes.
  • Partner with Advancement leadership to implement fundraising strategies aligned with university priorities.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders and understand the unique contributions of each.
  • Promote interdisciplinary projects and programs that align with university priorities.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to motivate and assess individual and team success.
  • Travel and occasional evening/weekend duties are required.

Shift

M-F 8am-5pm with some occasional events and ability and willingness to travel

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in a relevant area and 10 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired OR a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area and 12 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep appreciation for the mission and values of public higher education.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of major gift fundraising experience in higher education or an academic medical center.
  • Experience with capital campaigns and a strong commitment to campaign goals.
  • Effective leadership skills in both stable and transitional environments.
  • Collaborative and decisive team-building style; ability to thrive in a complex organizational setting.
  • Proven success in building relationships with volunteers, administrators, faculty, and donors.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, reporting tools, and analytics in an advancement context.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-level gift discussions and conduct personal solicitation calls across diverse constituencies.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $180,000-$200,000 Annually

Grade: GGS-E1A
