Position Summary |
The Research Program Manager/Education Officer will plan, organize, and evaluate the active industry, federal funded, and investigator-initiated studies and educational learning initiatives in the Neurosciences Clinical Trial's Unit (
NCTU). The
RPM/Education Officer will contribute substantively and independently to operationalizing the implementation of research processes and ensuring adherence to study protocols and compliance with data and security measures. The
RPM/ Education Officer will provide new hires with education and training of clinical research activities, regulations, and workflows specific to
UNC and the clinical research roles and ensure detail-oriented and timely completion of all research, clinical, and education engagement deliverables, while meeting the highest standards of excellence.
The
RPM/Education Officer will be responsible for:
- Program planning, policy development, and evaluation.
- Developing, implementing and monitoring customizable competency-based onboarding learning and education plans for all trial studies. The customized plans provide a foundation for continuous competency that is presented to the NCTU Director, and Assistant Director throughout the project.
- Convening the leadership team to oversee interdisciplinary efforts to support quality and educational management efforts and program implementation.
- Collaborate with health care professionals and researchers by facilitating learning with developing innovative educational materials and team-oriented inter-professional educational opportunities.
- Oversight of and mentoring of all new hires and experienced coordinators within the NCTU. Leading all team building and education activities, policy development, and human resources administration for projects.
- Identify and represent substantive research and educational issues with key leadership and funding agencies.
Additionally: The
RPM will work with unit leadership to further initiatives. May be required to perform audits on open studies, monitor and support operations at one or more research locations. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- The candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in program coordination related to research/evaluation/program management.
- Applicant must have full understanding of social/clinical research principles, methods of data/information collection, and analysis used to manage projects and programs independently.
- Must be experienced in developing/implementing educational objectives within a research/clinical trial capacity.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have ability to establish rapport and adapt to rapidly changing work environment and different learning styles.
- Must demonstrate an ability to execute tasks with minimal oversight.
- Must have ability to oversee and complete activities across multiple functions.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Preferred candidates will have:
- At least five years of experience in managing clinical trial studies and/ or other clinical research
- At least two years of experience developing and maintaining education materials applicable to research and study trials
- Experience in all aspects of research study administration including study start up, maintenance, close out and invoicing.
