Pharmacy Buyer - Infusion Centers

This is a full time position, generally 7am-4pm, Monday through Friday. Must be flexible to travel to all five sites (Oceanside, Torrey Pines, Rancho Bernardo, Encinitas and Hillcrest).

Scripps Health has five outpatient infusion centers (Hillcrest, Encinitas, Oceanside, Rancho Bernardo and Torrey Pines), offering chemotherapy services using the latest techniques to maximize effectiveness and comfort. As part of the Scripps Health pharmacy team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide a broad range of clinical services at our sites and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to deliver high-quality, efficient services to patients and staff. Responsibilities include:

• Procurement, receiving and inventory control of pharmaceuticals;
• Processing purchase orders and invoices;
• Maintaining contract files and for compliance with contracts;
• Respond to pharmaceutical recalls.
• Alert the Director of Pharmacy of changes in buying trends, including unusual use of drugs and use of new costly drugs.
• Capable of fully functioning under the Pharmacy Technician job description.
• Facilitates teamwork and good interdepartmental relationships.
  Collaborates with other health care disciplines and supports the needs of patients and families.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient, staff, department and hospital information.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement.
• Performs other related functions as assigned.
• Responsible for performing basic pharmacy technician duties.
• Works under the supervision of registered pharmacists.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
  
  

Required Certification/Registration:

• California Board of Pharmacy Certification.
  
  

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• Certification by a National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
• Purchasing experience
• Experience with analytics
• Minimum skills in word processing and spreadsheet software ability to use drug wholesaler online software.
