Primary Function

The Registered Nurse Manager is responsible for providing managerial and clinical nursing oversight and may be assigned to deliver health care and treat patients in a variety of scenarios. The RN Manager reports to the Site Program Manager and clinically works under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer or his/her designate.

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity International is recognized.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow up care required.
  • Maintain HIPPA certification.
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
  • Use knowledge and expertise to ensure that nursing processes and systems are followed appropriately according to policies and procedures, company performance, and accreditation standards.
  • Work cohesively with the PM and CMO in the coordination of the healthcare delivery system, as well as other functions within the facility.
  • Use all functions and applications of Acuity International relevant to the position with no supervision and assist with staff training as requested.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, peers, and employees at all levels within the organization. Maintain clear lines of communication throughout issue-resolution processes.
  • Demonstrate personal performance based on professional practice standards, rules and regulations and organizational criteria.
  • Coordinate, structure, implement, and guide the delivery of the nursing service program within the facility, including direct oversight, leadership, management, guidance, support, and evaluation of clinical performance by the EMTs, RNs and other clinical staff.
  • Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies within the facility, including the ability to perform continuous CPR until properly relieved.
  • Take and document all patient history and vital signs, assist with examinations and/or treatments, and report all changes in patients' conditions to the appropriate level of healthcare provider.
  • Conduct daily clinical rounds to all designated areas of responsibility to observe and review documentation, orders, and patient care plans and ensure that objectives are understood and practiced by the nursing staff.
  • Assist with daily triage/sick call, minor medical/surgical procedures, and patient assessments.
  • Initiate and document prescribed protocol treatment in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, management and other stakeholders in streamlining services within the facility.
  • Assist with disaster plans and emergency preparation. Adhere to and enforce all safety and security policies and procedures and participate in all applicable safety/emergency drills.
  • Assist with orientation and training activities of clinical personnel. Serve as a professional role model and mentor to motivate, develop, and retain nursing staff.
  • Ensure nursing practice conforms to state licensure, accreditation, and regulatory agency requirements, and company policies and procedures.
  • Work in accordance with the PM and the CMO to fulfill the contractual requirements for the delivery of quality healthcare.
  • Complete CEU Annual healthcare training relevant to the working environment.
  • Assist with evaluating the quality and effectiveness of the clinical services and assist in developing systems to ensure and monitor patient care and safety.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by using objectivity, maintaining self-control when under pressure, separating professional from personal issues, displaying emotional maturity, maintaining a high degree of integrity, and promoting a positive work environment by setting an example.
  • Participate in all monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as assigned and required in accordance with contract compliance.
  • Notify critical information to the next level of management that may have a negative impact on client and/or vendor relations or patient care.
  • Maintains the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Association's Patient Bill of Rights.
  • Additional Duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or other relevant healthcare or science field of study.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years' clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated 2 years of Progressive Nursing Management and Clinical Leadership.
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, Resided in the US for 3 years in the past 5 years.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in state or country of licensure.
  • Maintenance of BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Specialty Nursing Certification preferred (ie: CCRN, CEN, CFRN).
  • Membership of the Professional Nursing Association is desirable.
  • Experience DHS or Detention Services is preferred.
  • Proficient in speaking, writing and reading English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other relevant languages) preferred.
  • Has undergone a federal investigation at the level of Tier 2 or higher; has been granted favorable suitability/eligibility and has not had a break in service for more than 24 months.
  • DHS or ICE detention center experience.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs.
  • Visual acuity required to complete paperwork and computer work.
  • Work is performed in a secure detention facility.
  • May require evening, weekend, or on-call hours.
  • Exposure to emotionally challenging situations.
