Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early Career Remediation Engineer or Geologist in our environmental sciences and engineering practice in our Oak Brook or Chicago, IL office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to contaminated site assessment & remediation, groundwater management, water treatment, and environmental due diligence for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, construction quality assurance and oversight, and remediation system O&M;
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation;
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, if applicable. (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (valuable)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (preferred)
  • Technical experience in geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines. (preferred)
  • Experience with construction work such as plumbing, electrical, structural, geotechnical, or mechanical tasks. (valuable)
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $52,135/year / Maximum Salary: $80,605 /year (Oak Brook, Chicago, IL)
