  • Job Title: Payroll Assistant



  • Summary: Sanders Brothers Construction is seeking a Payroll Assistant to support the Company's payroll process. This role works closely with the Payroll Manager to assist with payroll processing and related activities. The position offers an opportunity to learn the full Sanders Brothers' payroll cycle, positively impact the team, and grow professionally.



  • Responsibilities:




    • Update payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages, such as federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, compensation increases, promotions, and departmental transfers.



    • Compute wages and deductions, review for accuracy, and post to payroll records.



    • Process wage increases, update 401k deduction changes, employee records, and direct deposit/banking information.



    • Review electronic timekeeping systems or manually collect and review timesheets.



    • Calculate payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, and deductions.



    • Prepare and issue earnings statements.



    • Upload electronic paystubs to the employee portal and manage direct deposits.



    • Coordinate with the HR Team to ensure accurate employee data.



    • Provide administrative support to the accounting department.



    • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay-related matters.





  • Qualifications:




    • 1-3 years of payroll experience (early career).



    • Experience in the construction industry (preferred).



    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.



    • Strong analytical skills.



    • Effective time management and attention to detail.



    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong interpersonal skills.



    • Must meet SBCC's employment standards regarding background checks and drug testing.





  • Preferred Skills:




    • Experience with Viewpoint Construction Software or similar ERP systems.





  • Work Environment:




    • Office-based role with collaboration across payroll, HR, and accounting teams.
