THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Under the direction of the Clerical Supervisor, this employee will serve as the office receptionist, greeting visitors and directing them to the appropriate area or staff member in a timely manner. This employee processes all types of mail and ships packages as requested. The responsibilities of this position include drafting memos, letters, and other correspondence, as appropriate and other general clerical duties. This position will take information from the general public via phone, email, print, and in-person and deliver it to the appropriate staff member or department. This employee is also the point of contact for several county programs including Adopt-A-Highway, Keep Pa Beautiful, Intranet Travel Advisory Database and more.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Shift-work, overtime, and travel may be required for emergencies, training, and specialized maintenance operations.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • Keyboarding skills to meet standards for speed and accuracy

Additional Requirements:

  • Six months of full-time, moderately complex clerical experience
  • One year experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • One year experience sorting, filing, and retrieving documents using a specific system to keep them organized and to be able to retrieve documents/files as needed
  • Two years of customer service dealing with inquiries from the general public
  • Experience entering time worked or payroll for others
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions
