What You Do.



  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for water, energy, and waste reduction across manufacturing and corporate facilities.
  • Conduct environmental inspections, waste stream audits, and support diversion and recycling initiatives.
  • Assist in tracking and analyzing environmental metrics, including wastewater treatment costs and sustainability data.
  • Support the development of environmental compliance reports, audits, and standard operating procedures.
  • Research and present cost-saving sustainability initiatives to leadership, and help facilitate implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to support sustainability data requests and reporting.
  • Participate in webinars and conduct research to stay informed on trends in energy, waste, water, and sustainable packaging.
  • Other Projects or duties as assigned while maintaining confidentiality with respect to Sargento's proprietary information


Your Education and Qualifications.



  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in energy, environmental or earth science, physics, chemistry relevant engineering, technical based studies program, or a relevant life sciences area, having completed sophomore year prior to the start of internship.
  • Passion for learning and growing in the Environmental Sustainability field
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to summarize, analyze and interpret data in spreadsheets including calculating common statistical measures; mean, median, mode, maximum, minimum, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with resourcefulness, originality, and initiative
  • Ability to follow health and safety practices in all work environments including but not limited to issues related to mechanical, electrical, fire, chemical and other hazards
  • A basic understanding of functional and design criteria of utility systems (electricity, natural gas, water, wastewater, etc.)
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and vehicle required. There is no mass/public transit system to/from corporate housing location to company locations.
