As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education ( MFE COE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.

Position Summary
This position has primary responsibility for developing and providing professional development workshops and activities for faculty and graduate students in the Mary Frances Early College of Education. It provides individual faculty and graduate students with assistance and guidance in identifying funding opportunities for their research and refining their IRB submissions. This position also provides support services to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education in their efforts to build the research culture in the Mary Frances Early College of Education.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct Research Office grant workshop series.
  • Meet with faculty and graduate students individually to discuss research interests and determine possible funding resources to promote professional growth.
  • Participate in external agency webinars, workshops, and podcasts related to current funding opportunities, technical assistance for proposal preparation, and upcoming state and national educational issues to enhance services for faculty and graduate students.

  • Assist with proposal development and submission, including (a) reviewing and editing narratives for content and style; (b) ensuring proposal meet formatting guidelines; reviewing and editing current and pending documents; (d) reviewing and editing biosketches, data management plans, human subjects documents; and (e) providing support to compile components for submission.

  • Working closely with faculty and staff and IRB personnel on IRB submissions from students and faculty.
  • Soliciting school systems for research projects.
  • Support submission of research project proposal request to Clarke County School District

  • Develop communications related to internal and external research and grant opportunities to be shared with faculty and graduate students through college level listservs.
  • Identify and share grant opportunities that match individual faculty research agendas
  • Train faculty in identifying grant opportunities
  • Manage MFE COE-Research Office emails
  • Culminate data for the provision of summary statements related to grants (e.g., dollars submitted, dollars awarded, expenditures) for COE annual reports, US News, individual departments, and MFE COE Strategic Plan.
