The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The hourly range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is from Step 1 ($72.52) to Step 15 ($95.71). Job Closing Date

About the Job
UC Merced Occupational Health Clinic provides treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses; preventive medical services; OSHA and departmentally mandated medical surveillance programs; onboarding of new employees; and supportive efforts designed to improve the general well-being of UCM employees. Occupational Health collaborates closely with Environment, Health & Safety and Human Resources to create an environment where it is equally safe to work as it is to receive healthcare. In addition, Occupational Health partners with those who support employee healthcare in a matter that protects human health. This lead role involves applying occupational nursing principles to protect worker health and ensure a safe workplace. Responsibilities include performing medical exams, treating acute injuries and illnesses per protocols and supporting workplace wellness initiatives. Key Responsibilities: CLINICAL: * Evaluate and treat acute or serious injuries, illnesses or exposures, as per protocols. Use clinical judgment to determine proper care, whether to refer to a hospital, physician, or return to work. Collaborate with the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Health & Wellbeing as needed. * Support worksite health and safety programs by conducting medical surveillance exams (e.g., histories, physicals, blood tests, audiograms, pulmonary function tests). * Identify and assess health problems and hazards through work-site surveys, toxicological research, and analysis of OSHA logs and accident reports. Stay informed about workplace hazards and consult with the EHS team to improve practices and eliminate hazards. * Work with the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Health & Wellbeing, Occupational Health & Wellness Coordinator, and HR staff to coordinate and monitor services for injured workers to ensure effective recovery and return to work. * Protect personal health information as required by law. * Prepare accurate written reports and ensure they are entered into the Occupational Health Record system in a timely manner. ADMINISTRATIVE/PROGRAMMATIC: * Lead or assist in developing, administering, and documenting health programs such as injury prevention, treatment, medical surveillance, health promotion, disease management, and case management. * Participate in reviewing clinical care and program effectiveness, documenting quality improvement studies and outcomes. * Use nursing and program administration knowledge to advise on and improve Occupational Health Services programs. * Explain and address questions about occupational health and wellness programs to employees and managers. * Analyze, document, and present Occupational Health Services program data to various stakeholders. * Serve as a spokesperson for specialized projects or programs * Coordinate with Human Resources, EH&S, and other specialists (e.g., industrial hygiene, safety, radiation assessment) and external agencies (e.g., local public health, community providers). * Provide essential support during emergencies to protect health, safety, and Lab operations. * Identify and implement improvements in assigned program areas. * LEAD Responsible for training, assigning work, and assisting with the selection and evaluation of lower-level Nurse Practitioners.
