About the team

Worldpay, LLC seeks Data Scientist II in Cincinnati, OH to leverage and employ machine learning, statistical modeling, and quantitative analysis to create and enhance smarter, data-driven debit routing products.

What you will be doing

The Data Scientist II will utilize quantitative and statistical methods to extract data and insights from structured and unstructured data. Additionally, the role will:

  • Work with large payment transactional data and transform complex datasets into more usable formats.
  • Work with a variety of data science tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Work independently and collaborate with other groups to solve complex transaction routing optimization problems.
  • Create and present analyses to internal and external partners and clients.
  • Document models (routing tables) and write code to track and monitor models (routing tables) and product performance.
  • Understand the realities of model development and make pragmatic and business-aware choices when trading-off sophistication and accuracy versus implementation and performance costs.
  • Full understanding of their area of expertise (payment, debit routing). Works independently on problems of diverse scope.
  • Works under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment.
  • Identify non-routine issues and routes/escalates to appropriate team members.
  • Works on multiple concurrent projects of medium complexity.
  • Contributes to complex projects to gain experience, shares ideas and suggests process improvements appropriate for level of experience.
  • Consults with senior peers on semi-complex processes to improve through experience.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation:

  • utilizing advanced statistical modeling and forecasting in R to implement specialized debit routing algorithms and use data mining techniques in Hadoop/SQL to drive new product features;
  • developing routing methodology to support card present PINless Debit routing for verticals with dual message transaction types with SQL and R studio;
  • utilizing quantitative estimations and leverage the available data to run simulations and analyze potential savings opportunity evaluations for existing and prospective clients in Databricks and Snowflake Cloud data platforms;
  • presenting the findings to stakeholders and help in data-driven decision making; auditing the analytical processes;
  • improving and automating the debit routing process using artificial intelligence technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master's degree in the above listed fields and one (1) year of experience in the above listed skills. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies.
