Epic Application Analysts are the primary support contacts for their assigned Epic applications. They coordinate issues that arise in their application areas and are responsible for design, build, testing, optimization, and ongoing support of the application. Analysts must be knowledgeable about the organization's policies, procedures, and business operations, and collaborate with clinical and operational stakeholders to ensure Epic workflows align with patient care and organizational goals.

The Application Analyst I - HIM supports workflows related to chart completion and deficiency tracking, release of information (ROI), medical record coding, and scanning/transcription. Analysts at this level are responsible for achieving certification, resolving tickets, and building foundational expertise in HIM operations and compliance requirements.

• Serve as the primary support contact for HIM end-users.
• Support build and testing of chart deficiency, ROI, and coding workflows.
• Assist in configuration of scanning, transcription, and document imaging workflows.
• Document workflows, specifications, and change management activities.
• Resolve support tickets and escalate as needed.
• Participate in training activities, UAT, and integrated testing.
• Collaborate with HIM leadership and compliance officers to align workflows with regulatory standards.
• Support optimization projects to improve efficiency and compliance.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in healthcare, HIM, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Experience:
  • 0-3 years Epic or healthcare IT experience required.
  • Prior HIM, medical records, or compliance experience preferred.

• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of HIM workflows, including chart tracking, ROI, and coding support.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, privacy regulations, and record retention policies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with HIM staff, coders, and compliance officers.

• Certification Requirements:
  • Must obtain Epic HIM certification within 60 days of hire (up to 90 days allowable depending on module complexity).
  • Certification must be maintained in good standing per Epic and organizational standards.
