Responsibilities:
- Designs, standardizes and delivers classes to orient staff to patient care standards, performance standards and procedures incorporating ASA and ASATT recommendations.
- Provides classes and clinical teaching to demonstrate knowledge, comprehension, anesthetic principles and guidelines to airway management.
- Demonstrates knowledge and comprehension in relationship to pathophysiology and anesthesia management for the following case types: CV, GI, GU, hepatic, musculoskeletal, neuro, renal and respiratory to include physiological teaching, clinical skills, ASA and ASATT recommendations.
- Provides classes and clinical teaching to demonstrate knowledge, comprehension and practical assistance with relation to fluid, whole blood, salvaged blood and blood component management: (Colloid and crystalloid solutions, IV access, fluid type vs. patient situation, ABO & RH typing, complications of administering blood, pro-active assistance of blood and blood products).
- Provides classes and clinical teaching to demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of indications for placement and procedure of invasive and non- invasive pressure monitoring: (arterial lines, central lines, intra-cardiac/ pulmonary artery pressure, ICP, Flo-trac.). Provides classes and clinical teaching to demonstrate knowledge and comprehension in relation to equipment for neuraxial anesthesia and regional anesthesia.
- Facilitates academic affiliations and collaborative partnerships within Inova Health System. Facilitates staff with obtaining continuing education contact hours. Assures that classes and activities are linked to strategic initiatives. Maintains self-development to support expertise in the department and quality in the practice setting. Provides classes to prepare anesthesia techs for ACLS and PALS certifications.
- Supports change within the organization.
- Assists with the identification of learning needs for assigned staff population. Assists with the identification of appropriate teaching strategies to achieve identified organizational learning needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certification - Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within 3 months of hire; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor within 6 months of hire
- Experience - 4 years of experience in anesthesiology or related healthcare field
- Education - LPN, Anesthesia Technician three or EMT certification
