ATI Richland is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist for our facility located in Richland, Washington. This is a day shift position that typically works between 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. This position will sustain the safety, health and environmental programs so the plant is compliant with all city, county, state and federal regulations and help create a culture that makes health and safety a core value in everything we do. This position is considered to be a part of the leadership team which requires problem solving, investigations, report writing, carrying out directives by management, supporting company missions and goals, attending meetings and trainings, providing training, maintaining positive employee relations, and other leadership duties.

In order to become successful and provide immediate impact, you will have to quickly learn ATI's processes and facility, pay close attention to detail, work to a deadline, and be self-motivated. Attention to detail, a continuous improvement mindset, the ability to act quickly, and exceptional interpersonal skills are included in the skillset of a successful EHS Specialist.

Responsibilities:



  • Sustain the environmental, health and safety programs by establishing working relationships between all departments to help facilitate the plant meeting its facility vision and objectives.
  • Manage Lock out Try Out and Confined Space Programs.
  • Monitor and ensure regulatory compliance with the environmental program, which includes reporting to regulatory agencies, wastewater control, SDS management, hazardous chemical control and proper removal of hazardous waste.
  • Perform audits as required such as SWTES audits, IBMS surveillance; IBMS process audits, job hazard analysis, PPE Hazard assessments, and ergonomic assessments.
  • Conduct compliance evaluations of processes and EH&S programs.
  • Maintain, and conduct EH&S related training as required to ensure compliance; including new hire safety orientation.
  • Manage on site contractor program including orientations and audits.
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement tools and participate in CI projects and events.
  • Lead and/or participate in incident Investigation, Problem Solving Reports, 5 Why analysis.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or closely related field and one year of work experience or an internship in an EHS function. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, Associates degree with 2 years of experience in EHS function. OR OSHA #501 - Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry.



  • Knowledge in general OSHA standards.
  • Knowledge in industrial hygiene such as noise exposure and respirator wear/use.


Preferences, Skills & Abilities



  • Effective project management, conflict-resolution, analytical and PC-based data management skills, including Microsoft Office Suite of Applications and SharePoint.
  • Sound judgment and be able to plan, organize and control multiple activities within a team dynamic.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to interact well with employees and agency representatives are essential.
  • 5 years of highly industrial work experience preferred.

Salary Range: $64,000 to $83,000/annually +
