Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Temporary Interlibrary Loan (
ILL) Technician provides requested copies of articles and physical items in response to requests from other libraries promptly, retrieving physical materials from the library collections and scanning and transmitting articles electronically when requested. This position works in the ILLiad client and
OCLC Worldshare to fulfill incoming lending requests from other institutions. The Technician handles all Document Delivery requests and is responsible for shipping and receiving of library items to and from other institutions. The position assists with mail and package deliveries for
UNCW Library, creates and updates address records in
ILL shipping software, files missing claims, and serves as point of contact for Seahawk Mail and the
UNCW Warehouse regarding shipping. The Technician receives and processes faculty requests for physical course reserves, creates course records, and manages reserves inventory. The position provides support to the
ILL Specialist as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |

Library experience is highly desired.
Experience with Atlas Systems, ILLiad software,

The Resource Description & Management unit of
UNCW Library selects and acquires informational resources in all formats relevant to the current and anticipated learning, instructional, and research needs of the
UNCW community. The unit also maintains the library's online catalog, which provides records of materials available in the library and links to electronic resources. |

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation.
Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
