Responsibilities

The Director of Operations in the healthcare sector is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operational activities of a healthcare facility or organization. They work closely with the executive team, healthcare professionals, and support and manage staff to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of healthcare services while maintaining high-quality patient care and safety.

    Operational Leadership: Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to the operational teams, including clinical, administrative, and support staff.
  • Team Management: Oversee and lead a team of managers and staff in various operational departments. Provide direction, mentorship, and support for employees.
  • Manage the operations budget, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Ensure that the operations department operates within budget constraints.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Implement best practices and streamline procedures.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, as needed to meet operational goals. Ensure resources are used efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that products or services meet established standards and customer expectations.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop plans to mitigate them. Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiate contracts, and secure favorable terms to support the organization's operations.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control, including ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of goods and materials.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Ensure the efficient movement of goods and services, from production to delivery, while optimizing cost and delivery times.
  • Technology and Systems: Utilize and implement appropriate technology and software systems to enhance operations and data management.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze operational data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to make data-driven decisions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure that the organization complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Monitor and improve customer satisfaction by ensuring that operational processes support a positive customer experience.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the status of operations, key performance metrics, and any significant issues or achievements.
  • Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility: Integrate sustainable practices and environmental responsibility into operations where relevant and possible.
  • Crisis Management: Develop and implement contingency plans for potential operational disruptions or emergencies.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, marketing, and finance, to ensure a cohesive approach to achieving organizational objectives.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies that can improve operations.
  • Any related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in healthcare management, business administration, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 8 years of progressive experience in operations management, process development preferably within the bio pharma or healthcare industry.
  • Minimum of three years of management experience. Managing teams at different levels within the departmen

Preferred:

  • Master's degree (e.g., MHA or MBA).
  • Experience in healthcare administration or healthcare management .

Licenses / Certifications:

  • Healthcare management/administrations certification a plus.
  • Valid Driver's license.

Travel:

  • Up to 10%

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge data and performance /operation metrics
  • Strong working knowledge of budgeting and financial principles.
  • Familiar with ERP and CRM software (Salesforce, Oracle)
  • Familiarity with FDA, GMP and regulatory compliance is desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and industry best practices.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $170,000.00p/yr. to $180,000.00p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant's skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
