Job Family Description

Training personnel design, develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge, and ensure required qualifications, of employees within the organization. They assess training needs, develop curriculum, and facilitate workshops or training sessions tailored to specific learning objectives. Additionally, they evaluate training outcomes and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure continuous improvement in employee performance and organizational effectiveness.

Discipline Description

Operations and technical training personnel design and develop operations and technical training materials, including manuals, presentations, and online modules. They ensure that content is relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with organizational goals. They analyze employee learning needs and partner with subject matter experts and operations/technical management to provide input for course content. They plan and coordinating skills assessments and training, and they develop and monitor metrics for evaluating training and development effectiveness.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

This instructor position is for the SRNS Site Maintenance Training Organization

Through the use of effective training methods, provide employees with the technical knowledge and skills required to perform their jobs safely and competently. Develop and present training courses based on analysis of job tasks for the area assigned. Perform a variety of technical instructional support functions including revision of training materials, evaluation of other instructors, monitoring instructor qualifications, and facilitating task analysis which includes identification of task elements. Could also provide assistance to Training Lead in performing related activities on more complex tasks.
Present classroom training and conduct on the job training. Assist students with using interactive training tools. Supply alternate and ancillary resources and references as required. Monitor and promote trainee achievement of lesson objectives. Administer written examinations, and formal evaluation of job performance measures. Construct a logical outline of lesson content. Modify lesson plans to incorporate content changes, addressing differing target audiences, using a variety of media, and provide varied learning experiences. Produce training presentations, lessons plans, student guides, and other training material as required. Revise training materials as changes occur to procedures, practices, policy, or any other information on which training is based. Assist/advise more junior instructors in developing their training materials and their training skills. Review test items and ensure content and predictive validity. Perform job, task, and needs analysis, design of training, and development of training for applicable discipline. Perform evaluation of training effectiveness by conducting end of course evaluations and compiling exam results data. Perform evaluation of other instructors. Perform varied training administration tasks which include coordinating training scheduling, attendance monitoring, duplication/production of training materials, and tracking, and other duties as assigned. Implement and issue of Operating Experience Program (OEP)/Lessons Learned training materials. Perform instructional review of training materials.
In addition, this position entails;
* Knowledge of the Sites Learning Management System or comparable program.
* Understanding of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications
* Knowledge in the content of assigned lessons and general concepts sufficient to pinpoint causes of deficiencies in achievement.
* Proficient in curriculum development.
* Familiarity with applicable Federal Laws, DOE Orders, and company policies.
* Demonstrated exemplary performance to tasks in the mechanical maintenance discipline and ability to evaluate student performance of those tasks.
* Able to qualify as an instructor in accordance with the SRS 4-B Manual.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
* Experience in nuclear/industrial training programs

* Working knowledge and skills in mechanical maintenance at SRNS highly preferred.
* Asset Suite program and Mobile Work Packages.
* SRS E&I, Mechanical, or Multiskilled Maintenance qualified.
* Familiarity with ASME B31.3 Piping Code and Nuclear/Industrial Standards.
* Mechanical training experience preferred.
* Substantial expertise in mechanical maintenance performance for valves, pumps, blowers, seals and fittings, laser alignment, fabrication, gearboxes, etc. to develop and implement training materials, anticipate potential student difficulties, draw analogies, and answer questions from people with many different backgrounds.
* Knowledge of the content of assigned lessons sufficient to evaluate the relative importance of concepts, generalizations of concepts, and application to various jobs onsite in order to pinpoint causes of deficiencies in achievement.
* Familiarity with applicable Federal Laws, DOE Order 426.2A, and company policies.
* Demonstrate exemplary performance to tasks in the discipline and evaluate student performance of those tasks.
* Qualification as an Instructor in accordance with the SRS 4-B Manual preferred.
* Instructors are expected to remain current in their fields of expertise and are strongly encouraged to continually enhance their technical knowledge and skills.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
