Job Family Description

Training personnel design, develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge, and ensure required qualifications, of employees within the organization. They assess training needs, develop curriculum, and facilitate workshops or training sessions tailored to specific learning objectives. Additionally, they evaluate training outcomes and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure continuous improvement in employee performance and organizational effectiveness.

Discipline Description

Training personnel develop and present training curriculum and materials for the general workforce and targeted functional/technical areas. They analyze employee learning needs and partner with subject matter experts and business management to provide input for course content. They plan and coordinate skills assessments and training, and they develop and monitor metrics for evaluating training and development effectiveness. Training personnel provide training in various formats, such as classroom settings, via video modules, and via other computer-based formats.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

This Training Lead position is for the Site Maintenance Training Department of the SRNS Site Training Organization
Under very limited supervision, performs in a lead role in the administration of Mechanical Maintenance Training program(s), and is accountable for results of training. Directs a team of instructional staff in the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of initial and continuing training for job-specific Operator, Maintenance, Technical Staff, Manager and Supervisor training programs for the purpose of qualifying/certifying personnel. Provides leadership in identification and resolution of operating and support organizations' training needs. Ensures compliance with DOE O 426.2A, Manual 4B, and other applicable regulatory requirements. May have significant input in the budgeting process for responsible training program(s). May serve as a Subcontract Technical Representative, coordinating all efforts of subcontracted personnel, including budgeting, man hour accounting, and overseeing work accomplishment.
Safety is a primary responsibility in each job performed. Attend safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task. Take the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.
-Direct the activities of instructional staff in the following:
* Conduct of training needs, job and task analyses of facility systems, processes, and safety basis.
* Development and maintenance of task-to-training matrices.
* Design of training to include objectives based on skills, knowledge and abilities; sequence of instruction; training methods and settings.
* Development of test items that measure trainee performance, are consistent with cognitive level of objectives, and ensure predictive validity.
* Development of evaluation instruments.
* Development/revision of training materials based on feedback from student/instructor evaluations; and as changes occur to equipment, procedures, practices, policy, or other information on which training is based; addressing target audiences, using a variety of media, and providing varied learning experiences.
* Presentation of training on programs, equipment, systems, processes, and safety bases in a variety of settings.
* Monitoring and promoting trainee achievement of objectives.
* Conducting trainee evaluation and remediation.
* Maintaining accurate records and files in support of training (i.e., rosters, examinations, transmittals).
* Performing evaluation of training effectiveness by conducting end-of-course evaluations and compiling exam results data.
* Evaluating training materials for compliance with DOE O 426.2A, Manual 4B, and industry standards and good practices.
-Develop Training Program Descriptions (TPDs) for Facility training programs.
-Manage Training Review Committees (TRCs).
-Provide formal presentations to Maintenance, Facility and Training management on training/development programs and projects.
-Conduct training program assessments and Management Field Observations (MFOs).
- Evaluate Facility training and conduct annual instructional evaluations.
- Respond to audit and surveillance reports (internal and external) on training activities. Develop responses/corrective actions (STAR) to findings and track these items to closure in a timely manner.
-Recommend experimental training methods to enhance effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of training; conduct appropriate studies, report results and make recommendations.
-Research relevant literature, recommend and institute application of new ideas/concepts.
-Provide technical leadership in developing new training programs.

Required Qualifications

* Eight or more years of experience (YOE) as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus five or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus three or more year of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
Instructor/Developer.
Instructional Technologist

We'd Also Like to See

* Working knowledge and skills in SRNS Maintenance programs and training is highly preferred.
* Familiarity with applicable Federal Laws, DOE Order 426.2A, and company policies.
* Asset Suite program and Mobile Work Packages.
* Familiarity with ASME B31.3 Piping Code and Nuclear/Industrial Standards.
* Mechanical training experience preferred.
* Knowledgeable in valves, pumps, blowers, seals and fittings, laser alignment, fabrication, gearboxes, etc. to provide insight in the development and implementation of training materials, anticipate potential student difficulties, draw analogies, and answer questions from people with many different backgrounds.
* Qualification as an Instructor in accordance with the SRS 4-B Manual preferred.
* Instructors are expected to remain current in their fields of expertise and are strongly encouraged to continually enhance their technical knowledge and skills.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
