Department Overview

The Energy Policy and Procurement (EPP) organization is responsible for sourcing energy products and shaping PG&E's engagement in energy-related regulatory and legislative proceedings at the state, regional, and federal levels. EPP oversees long-term energy portfolio planning, risk management, and compliance functions.

The Structured Energy Transactions (SET) Department manages wholesale power purchase agreements for renewable and storage resources, overseeing procurement programs designed to meet policy objectives cost-effectively. Within SET, the Structured Transactions (ST) Team leads the structuring, origination, negotiation, and management of PG&E's wholesale electric procurement, including solar, biomass, geothermal, wind, and energy storage. The team drives the execution of solicitations, develops power purchase agreements (PPAs), and ensures these activities support state reliability and environmental goals.

Position Summary

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. The preferred work location is Oakland, CA.

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of thejob posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, and geographic location.The decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors. This job is also eligible to participate inPG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range for Bay Area is $109,000 to $156,200.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the origination and negotiation of PPAs for new renewable and energy storage projects, directly supporting PG&E's clean energy objectives as the second largest buyer of clean energy in California.
  • Originate and execute highly structured, long-term power purchase and sales agreements, including innovative product offerings through complex solicitations.
  • Develop, manage, and negotiate wholesale power sales and procurement activities across storage capacity, renewable energy, and GHG-Free products.
  • Evaluate moderately complex power procurement contracts, synthesize key deal points, and communicate strategic insights to senior management.
  • Prepare strategy papers and briefing materials for Senior Leadership as required.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree with coursework in a business-related field, mathematics, engineering, or a comparable area; or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of relevant professional experience

Desired:

  • Master's degree
  • Minimum of two years' experience in wholesale supply, development, or strategy/policy within the energy industry
  • Understanding of procurement requirements for the Company's wholesale energy portfolio and their impact on competitive positioning, as well as relevant rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of energy contract provisions, typical counterparty considerations, and the implications of specific contractual language
  • Expertise in presenting complex data and findings to varied audiences; leading Company development initiatives; and representing Structured Transactions in discussions related to electric procurement issues
  • Understanding of organizational structures, decision-making frameworks, and governance procedures related to commercial procurement
  • Ability to influence senior decision-makers
  • Skilled in managing cross-functional projects and organizational initiatives
  • Strong analytical capabilities for addressing complex issues and recommending solutions even when operating with limited information and time constraints
