PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Rigging / SIW Superintendent serves as the on-site leader responsible for overseeing safe and efficient rigging and heavy lift operations within large-scale energy, chemical, or resource sector projects. This role ensures alignment with Worley's vision of delivering sustainable change by combining technical expertise with strong leadership to drive safety, quality, and operational excellence. The Superintendent plays a critical role in advancing Worley's ambition to be a global leader in sustainability solutions, managing resources and processes that contribute to successful project delivery while fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Rigging Operations

  • Lead all on-site rigging activities, managing and coordinating lifting crews to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Develop, review, and implement lift plans for heavy and complex lifts while applying best practices and industry standards.
  • Inspect rigging equipment to verify its condition and suitability for use, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks during lifting operations.

Site Management & Coordination

  • Oversee field administration, procurement activities, and engineering support to ensure seamless site operations.
  • Align with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project milestones and objectives.
  • Monitor progress against project timelines and budgets, taking proactive measures to address variances.
  • Support sustainable practices throughout the construction process, in line with Worley's sustainability goals.

Safety & Compliance

  • Drive a strong safety culture by strictly enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Lead incident prevention strategies and conduct root cause analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all operations meet legal, environmental, and company-specific compliance standards.
  • Promote sustainability and operational integrity through safe and responsible work practices.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to teams, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure all rigging activities and construction work meet quality control requirements.
  • Support innovation by applying advanced systems, processes, and tools to improve efficiency and outcomes.

  • Experience & Knowledge

  • Extensive experience in rigging and heavy lift operations, with a comprehensive understanding of rigging techniques, load calculations, and safety protocols.
  • Proven background in leading field supervision for large-scale construction projects within the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors.
  • Strong understanding of field administration, procurement processes, and engineering functions within complex project environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of systems, processes, and tools related to rigging and construction management.

    Leadership & Communication

  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, providing clear direction while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Skilled in workface planning, scheduling, and workforce allocation to achieve project goals.

    Commitment to Safety and Sustainability

  • Deep commitment to promoting a safe work environment and advancing sustainable construction practices.
  • Experience leading risk assessments and implementing proactive safety and environmental strategies.

    Education & Certification

  • Journey-level trade certification or equivalent technical qualifications preferred.
  • Rigging certifications and relevant industry-specific safety credentials are highly valued.
