NDE LEVEL II INSPECTOR (RAPTOR)

The NDE Level II Inspector at SpaceX sits within the quality control network supporting production as part of the NDE department. The NDE function is organized within focused production area cells alongside the production activities utilizing multiple and varied inspection methods to efficiently provide quality control and protect product reliability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Perform volumetric NDE inspections with advanced radiographic techniques: computed and direct digital
  • Perform near surface NDE inspections with dye penetrant and visual inspection methods
  • Perform volumetric NDE inspections with ultrasonics
  • Interpret, evaluate, communicate and report findings to production and engineering
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
  • Optimize and manipulate digital images for maximum clarity and accuracy
  • Support the development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometries
  • Assist in training and developing others within the team
  • Support research and development of system qualification and certification for critical processes


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of experience as a Level II Non-Destructive Evaluation/Testing Inspector
  • NDE Level II certification in line with ASNT TC-1A/NAS-410 guidance in one of the following methods: liquid penetrant (PT), visual inspection (VT), computed radiography (CR), digital radiography (DR), radiography (RT) or ultrasonic immersion (UT-IM)


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Experience performing NDE testing on castings
  • Knowledge of Olympus Tomoview/Zetec Ultravsion, TecScan software
  • Has or is able to get an IRRSP X-ray card
  • Knowledge of Carestream Industrex Software
  • Knowledge of AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM, etc.
  • Basic understanding of lean principles: 5S, Kaizen, continuous improvement initiatives


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to work 1st shift (5:00 AM start)
  • Ability to work overtime and weekend hours as needed
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs without accommodation
  • Capable of bending, stretching, standing, climbing stairs, reaching, twisting, sitting, and walking without accommodation


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 1: $25.00 - $31.00/hour
NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 2: $29.00 - $38.00/hour
NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 3: $34.00 - $44.75/hour
NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 4: $40.00 - $51.50/hour
NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 5: $45.00 - $58.25/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
