About the Position The Financial Business Analyst provides services in the planning, development, organization, implementation and evaluation of fiscal compliance and programs. Consults with local school districts, charter schools, Arizona Department of Education, and other vested entities, in assessing fiscal stability for education in Maricopa County. Primary duties include analyzing, developing, reporting, and maintaining a department's budget; researching budget and financial matters; developing budget and staffing projections; working closely with school districts and annual school district budget data for tax levies and financial solvency; monitoring school districts expenditures for spending within budget limits, forecasting staffing, costs, etc.; and analyzing budget expenditures. About Us The Office of the Maricopa County School Superintendent is led by the elected Superintendent. The office provides statutory services related to school governing board elections, bond and override elections, appointments, school finance, and maintaining homeschool and private school records. The Superintendent also oversees the Maricopa County accommodation district, ensuring educational opportunities for at-risk students, including those in detention schools. Proud To Offer

We Require
- Four years of successful experience in a school district, charter school or government finance and compliance, financial report writing, and research and analysis of data
- Bachelor's degree in business
- Other combinations of education, experience, or training that may be considered in substitution for the minimum requirements
We Also Value
- A combination of accounting in government or public-school districts and charter schools
- Grant accounting
- Certification in the field of Education Administration/Supervision/Finance
- Training in school business/ finance management
Job Contributions
- Analyze school district fiscal activity to verify proper accounting of Federal and State funding
- Prepare detailed financial reports and schedules to support district solvency and transparency
- Monitor cash balances, validate journal entries, and ensure accurate balance sheet reporting
- Advise districts and charters on financial operations, offering training and recommendations to improve processes
- Record all revenues accurately and timely to maintain financial integrity across systems
- Support the County School Superintendent's annual budget through accounting, purchasing, and cash management
- Facilitate billing processes and ensure timely collection to maintain fiscal health
- Assist in property tax rate setting, reconcile funds, and forecast revenues for levy validation
- Develop and maintain databases of fiscal policies, procedures, and administrative regulations
- Curate and share best practices via web platforms and proposals to enhance fiscal accountability and resource use
