Job Overview

SUMMARY

The Supervisor of Ophthalmology and the ophthalmology clinics is responsible for supervising the department under the guidance of the manager. Leading specialized team members in providing direct patient care by demonstrating expert clinical knowledge; ensuring compliance with quality and safety initiatives and practices; and partnering with a multidisciplinary team in meeting the clinical needs of patients and families.

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

Leads the implementation and maintenance of department specific policies, procedures, and guidelines while ensuring consistency with evidence-based practice and organizational policies, standards, and procedures.

Participates in leadership activities for department, contributing to the achievement of goals and objectives; evaluates team performance. Defines and maintains internal processes for department; supports customer service standards and handles operational and customer service escalations for department. Serves as a champion of organization culture, influencing culture change to support department objectives.

Leads department team members in providing direct patient care by demonstrating expert clinical knowledge and promoting the application of the clinical best practices and professional standards in daily work.

Ensures staffing resources are utilized appropriately and shifts resources to meet both patient and unit needs.

Partners with a multidisciplinary team in meeting the clinical needs of patients and families. Rounds with patients, families, and team members to promote patient family experience and quality patient care.

Resolves operational and patient/family issues, making decisions that are inclusive of multiple perspectives and solves underlying problems.

May be asked to work in clinic as an eye tech when staffing resources are low.

Develops clear goals and objectives for performance management and effectively communicates accountability.

Creates a culture and atmosphere that will lead to a high level of employee engagement.

Provides and utilizes productivity reports for the department to assess performance of entire team; reviews customer service score cards and work quality with staff (phone call monitoring, customer surveys, and etc.).

Participates in labor cost and financial component decisions related to day-to-day operations.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION - High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE - Three years of Ophthalmology clinical experience. Pediatric Experience Preferred

CERTIFICATION(S) -BLS/CPR, Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), CO, COA or COMT

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $63,317.59 to $94,976.38
