COLOR / TINTER

1st Shift (7:30am - 4pm)

The Color / Tinter performs color tinting on production and lab batches of coating products to meet customer color specifications in accordance with established health, safety, and environmental procedures.

The successful candidates will have an acceptable score on the color matching and math tests.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Shades/ tints production and lab batches.
  • Evaluates batches for conformance to color specifications.
  • Adjust color of individual batches within formulation guidelines.
  • Prepares customer samples and panels.
  • May be required to put together small batches of material for testing and customer requirements.
  • Maintains records of processes and results.
  • Document and record all actions taken in preparation of product.
  • Records batch information on appropriate computer programs.
  • As part of the housekeeping procedures, the employee may be involved with the disposal of hazardous waste. The initial training of how to properly dispose of hazardous waste will be performed by the Environmental and Safety department or the department supervisor. Annual training of the same will be performed by the EHS department.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Clean up equipment and properly store equipment.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred education level: Associate's or two-year college degree or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience level: One to three years' experience in a laboratory setting preferred and preferably in coatings.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system and other office machinery.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Excellent color vision.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent math skills including metric to standard conversions.
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
  • Excellent team building and communications skills.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, stand, and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls, and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee occasionally must use foot/feet to operate machinery, climb, or balance and reach above the shoulders. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production facility. Safety shoes, glasses, respirators, fire retardant uniform and earplugs may be required when performing certain functions.
