Project Accountant

Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Job Summary

Fishbeck is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our accounting department in our Grand Rapids, MI office. This entry-level role will support our project billing and accounting processes, working closely with project managers and the accounting team. The position is ideal for someone starting their accounting career who enjoys working with numbers, staying organized, and learning in a collaborative environment.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Assist with preparing billing information for project managers.
  • Help maintain project records, including contracts, change orders, and other documentation.
  • Support accurate and timely invoicing, collections tracking, and cost reporting.
  • Provide basic project accounting support such as expense entry and data checks.
  • Assist with preparing monthly reports for project managers.
  • Support year-end audit processes as needed.
  • Help with setting up new projects in our system.
  • Assist with job closeout tasks.


Minimum Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an office setting, operate standard office equipment, read printed and digital materials, and communicate in person or over the phone. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Education & Qualifications


  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent coursework/experience).
  • Internship, co-op, or up to 1-2 years of accounting or administrative experience preferred (but not required).
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Comfortable learning new software; experience with accounting tools is a plus.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate with a team.
