The Chief Business Transformation Officer (CBTO) is a strategic and outcomes-focused executive responsible for leading UVA Health business transformation strategy, establishment of measurable outcomes, and the successful implementation of Workday ERP across UVA Health. This executive will serve as the strategic partner to academic, clinical, research and administrative leadership, ensuring that UVA Health business transformation initiatives are aligned with mission priorities and financial goals. The CBTO manages collaboratively in a matrix model, with solid line reporting to Chief Financial Officer, UVA Health and dotted line reporting to Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, UVA.
The Chief Business Transformation Officer (CBTO) is directly responsible for the successful planning, implementation, change management, data management / reporting strategy, organizational design and adoption of business transformation - positioning UVA Health for operational and technological business excellence.
- Driving Strategic Initiatives: The CBTO works closely with senior leaders to define UVA Health's business transformation roadmap, aligning change efforts with overall strategic objectives.
- Leading Change Management: A key aspect of the role involves facilitating the adoption of new processes, technologies, and organizational structures, while also addressing resistance to change and ensuring smooth transitions.
- Optimizing Business Processes: The CBTO analyzes existing business operations to identify inefficiencies, leverage new technologies for increased productivity, and streamline workflows at UVA Health.
- Managing Financial Performance: The CBTO strategically allocates resources during transformation phases, tracking return on investment for initiatives and uncovering potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Building Cross-Functional Collaboration: The CBTO promotes communication and cooperation across various departments, aligning stakeholders around shared goals and driving unified momentum for change.
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of Workday across the health system including University Medical Center, Community Health, and University Physicians' Group.
- Develop/advise on business case for change including measurable success factors for implementation and key performance indicators to ensure return on investment.
- Advise leadership on vendor contracting, third-party contracting and staffing requirements for the transformation.
- Lead partner with third-party consulting to ensure contractual obligations are upheld and to minimize risk exposure.
- Identify and lead the implementation of transformational opportunities beyond ERP implementation including further build out of shared services, automations, and analytics.
- Partner with UVA CFO office to ensure financial modeling, accounting practices and forecasting tool sets support data driven decision making.
- Advise on data management and UVA Health reporting strategy to ensure UVA Health resources are best utilized for maximum effectiveness and producing data driven insights.
- Create/develop measurement mechanisms for business segmentation (mission-based P/L) and monitoring of costs.
- Advise University financial leadership on development of Foundational Data Model with focus on impacts to the current state design and implications to future state reporting.
- Maintains knowledge of the core Workday product and leads system enhancement, continually seeking new opportunities to achieve effective and efficient operations.
- Regularly report to the Executive sponsors on transformational progress, risks, and outcomes. Provide measurable recommendations and ensure alignment with leadership directives.
Position Compensation Range: $260,811.20 - $417,289.60 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or related field. Experience:10 years of experience in the business transformation space and 5 years of management experience. Licensure:None required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
