As a Senior Engagement Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to pharmaceutical and biotech clients, helping them elevate the role of Medical Affairs as a strategic pillar within their organization. You will lead engagements from inception to delivery, building strong relationships internally and externally, uncovering client needs, shaping strategic roadmaps, and ensuring projects are delivered with excellence - on time, on budget, and with measurable impact. You will also play a key role in developing our consulting talent and advancing the firm's market presence.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Client Leadership

  • Partner directly with senior client leaders (Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access) to define engagement objectives, scope, and success criteria.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring alignment across workstreams and proactively managing scope, risks, and deliverables.

Project & Team Management

  • Oversee project execution, ensuring analytical rigor, strategic insight, and flawless delivery across all client engagements.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and resource allocation while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop junior consultants, fostering their growth in technical expertise, strategic thinking, and client management.

Medical Affairs Expertise

  • Shape and evaluate medical strategy for pharmaceutical brands across therapeutic areas, with a focus on launch readiness, lifecycle management, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Lead projects spanning real-world evidence planning, medical and scientific communications, external stakeholder engagement strategies, field medical excellence, analytics, and training.
  • Knowleldge and experience with technology & innovation e.g. use of innovative digital health tools, AI/ML in evidence generation and familiarity with platforms for medical insights and analytics.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in Medical Affairs and incorporate best practices into client solutions.
  • Global experience e.g. familiar with international regulatory environments and cultural nuances impacting stakeholder engagement?

Business Development

  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities through relationship-building, thought leadership, and proactive client engagement.
  • Develop compelling proposals and pitch materials for follow-on work, new offerings, or expanded programs.
  • Contribute to the development of intellectual capital, case studies, and methodologies that enhance our service portfolio.

Essential Requirements

  • MBA or advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, MPH preferred) with strong business acumen.
  • 5+ years of experience in life sciences consulting with progressive responsibility and frequent interaction with senior leadership.
  • 2+ years in a management or leadership role within a consulting or advisory environment.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering strategic Medical Affairs initiatives.

Desired Qualifications

  • Direct experience developing and implementing medical strategy for pharmaceutical brands, ideally in both pre- and post-launch settings.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to structure complex problems, synthesize insights, and Translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Global perspective, including familiarity with international regulatory frameworks and sensitivity to cultural nuances that influence effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $210,000 to $258,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
