a.i. solutions is seeking an experienced engineer to provide quality and mission assurance support for the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Targets Program Office. Responsibilities include implementing MDA MAP and PMAP requirements, supporting hardware and software reviews, witnessing mission-critical tests, and performing mission assurance assessments and audits. The role involves risk evaluation, supplier quality management, and participation in MDS-level risk management processes. The successful candidate will be able to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:



  • Provide engineering, quality and mission assurance support within the Ballistic Missile Defense Systems (BMDS); specifically within the Targets Program Office
  • Provide insight into implementation and execution of MDA MAP and PMAP requirements on MDA development effor
  • Support product reviews, acceptance, and verifications of hardware and software to Pedigree Reviews, product Acceptance Reviews (PARs), Pre-Ship Reviews, Hardware and Software Acceptance Reviews, First Article Inspections, and hardware and software developmental and qualification testing
  • Support mission assurance assessments and audits. Activities include (1) planning assessments, conducting assessments, reporting findings, and correcting findings and (2) providing on-site verification and auditing at Developer facilities to ensure that robust controls are in place for quality assurance practices including foreign object debris, electrostatic discharge, and contamination
  • Participate in mission assurance activities for flight and ground test integration and execution efforts.
  • Witness hardware test activities for mission critical MDS items to identify, address, and report on flaws in test procedures, test set-up, and test configurations.
  • Evaluate the current risk level of baseline system designs, as well as the impact of baseline changes to the overall system risk profile. Assist in communicating issues and risks. Prepare risk notification reports.
  • Engage in the MDS-level risk management meetings and assist in developing and communicating independent QS Directorate comments, positions, and recommended changes through the MDA risk management process
  • Ability to quickly connect in-person and in writing, and to actively listen and perceive the needs, values or opinions of others
  • Supplier quality management experience assessing/evaluating mission critical hardware and/or software and investigating root cause of failures and/or nonconformances
  • Background in MDA, GMD, or DoD missile defense systems
  • Work location is at MDA VBC on Redstone Arsenal atleast 3 days per week, increasing within the next few months to full time on site at VBC
  • Periodic travel, approximately once per month once MDA resumes normal travel authorizations



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Professional engineering from a school of engineering Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) accredited as professional engineering curriculum with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in Mission Assurance/Quality and in implementing quality/mission assurance practices and oversight and hardware development, production, test, and evaluation
  • Experience in assisting in the formulation of opinions, decisions for quality and mission assurance practices.
  • Experience in assessing missile defense or aerospace system systems concepts, specifications and perform system integration.
  • Current possess an active DOD secret security clearance
