Job Summary

The Senior Staff Engineer plays a critical role in the design of RF ICs using pSemi's UltraCMOS technology, contributing to product lines such as high-performance RF switches, mixers, prescalers, PLLs, and RF receiver and transmit front-ends. This position supports the full product lifecycle-from definition and design through validation and release-while providing technical leadership and mentorship within the engineering team. The engineer works collaboratively with cross-functional groups including marketing, applications, and test engineering to ensure robust product performance and alignment with market needs.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:



  • Product Definition: Assist Marketing in defining new products through feasibility studies and technical competitive analyses
  • Product Design and Evaluation: Schematic Capture, IC layout, Simulation, Package Analysis, Evaluation Board Design, Design Validation, and mentoring junior engineers
  • Product Documentation: Document all relevant product and design information to educate others on novel design techniques and provide guidance on product usage
  • Product Characterization: Work with Characterization and Test Engineers to define, conduct and analyze data from product performance characterization
  • Production ATE Development: Work with Test Engineers to define, develop and ramp production ATE solutions
  • Product Support: Work with Applications, Product, Test and Manufacturing Engineers to help answer customer questions, assess field failures, support yield improvements, etc.
  • Technology Development: work with Technologists to define the technology roadmap, addressing the performance and functional requirements of the product roadmap



Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)



  • 8 - 12 years of experience in analog integrated circuit design and power management circuit design depending on level of education and experience


  • PMIC design - Advanced knowledge of Switching regulators, Charge Pumps, LDO regulators, Voltage and Current references
  • Experience in CMOS IC design for commercial applications - bulk and/or SOI processes
  • Proficient in RF IC design - RF switches, power amplifiers, mixers, PLLs, etc.
  • Proficient in Analog IC design - band-gap voltage references, low-drop out voltage regulators, operational amplifiers etc.
  • Knowledge of IC fabrication and how this impacts circuit performance.
  • Basic analog & RF IC layout skills



Preferred Qualifications



  • IC, package and PCB co-simulation using 2.5D or 3D EM tools.
  • Strength in documentation clarity and completeness
  • Ability to clearly assess and manage risk
  • Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule
  • Hands on use of RF measurement equipment to validate performance
  • Software tools: Cadence, ADS, HFSS, Momentum, Matlab, JMP, MS Project, Datapower, National Instruments CVI



Education Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Master's or PhD preferred

USD 187,342.90 - 243,559.26 per year
