Job Title: HR Operations Specialist

Location: West Houston - Energy Corridor

Type: Full-Time | Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days remote

About the Role:

Seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable HR Operations Specialist to join our client's HR team. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of employee leaves of absence (LOA), including compliance with federal and state regulations, communication with stakeholders, and partnership with third-party vendors. This is a critical role ensuring a seamless and compliant leave experience for our employees.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage end-to-end LOA process: intake, eligibility, documentation, return-to-work.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of federal and state leave laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, NYPFL).
  • Partner with our third-party leave vendor to ensure accuracy of leave data and case management.
  • Conduct ADA interactive process, document accommodations, and follow up with stakeholders.
  • Track and resolve AWOL cases, coordinating with managers and HR.
  • Respond to employee, manager, and HR inquiries related to leaves, PTO, and compliance.
  • Support New York-specific leave and notification requirements.
  • Perform PTO audits, apply balances, and process corrections as needed.
  • Review and process error reports from HRIS/vendor systems to ensure clean data.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize and streamline LOA processes.
  • Support API file integration reviews and issue resolution.


Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of experience in LOA administration, employee relations, or HR operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state leave laws (including NY, CA, NJ, etc.).
  • Experience with third-party leave administrators (e.g., Sedgwick, The Hartford).
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms and data/file exchanges (API experience a plus).
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and integrity.
  • Experience managing ADA and return-to-work processes.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in a high-volume or shared services HR environment.
  • Prior involvement in process documentation or leave policy creation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
