Purpose

To oversee the parking services program at all UT parking areas. Responsible for the daily parking operations by enforcing parking policies and regulations. Supervises staff who perform enforcement duties, operate the main campus kiosk, immobilize vehicles, perform event set-ups and retrievals, impound scooters, utilize LPR vehicles to enforce parking rules on campus and to perform garage counts as well as provide battery and key assists to the UT community. Will lead vehicle towing operations. Responds to requests in troubled parking areas. Trains, observes, performs regular evaluations, supports, and counsels employees.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and conducts a daily briefing prior to the team being deployed to the field. Assigns geographic districts and roles for each PEO and PEO II, and outlines any events, special parking provisions, or areas of concern. Ensure everyone is properly attired, understands the regulations, and is properly equipped and trained to perform their duties. Verifies and approves weekly time sheets.
  • Leads by example by patrolling the campus via different modes of transportation, including walking, scooter, bicycle, cart, or motorized vehicle, while issuing parking violation citations or warnings. Articulates directional information and location of buildings and offices to visitors. Installs and removes immobilization devices.Provides key and battery assists.
  • Supports the Event staff by delivering, setting up, and taking down cones, barricades, signs, and sign covers. Walks and lifts immobilization devices, stacks of parking cones, and scooters weighing approximately 30 pounds, continuously throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Writes incident and campus condition reports and conveys them to management.
  • Monitors the activity levels of the Enforcement team. Runs activity reports and citation analysis and looks for opportunities for improvement. Facilitates lot counts and garage counts to analyze changing parking needs. Reports all irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activity to PTS and to the University Police Department.
  • Organize collection of performance metrics for easy accessibility. Timely entries of all PEO performance metrics. Ensure timely documentation/notes in PEOs box folder of anything related to job performance. Foster and maintain transparency in the evaluation process. Ensure PEOs know what is expected of them. Ensure PEOs know how their performance will be assessed. Create path for success for each member of the team.
  • Holiday, occasional overtime or comp time required as necessary. Must work minimum of one home football game every year in addition to every other Thanksgiving week home football game.

Required Qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Minimum of three years in a professional leadership role. Minimum of five years of demonstrable customer service experience. Must be a strong team player and possess strong leadership skills. Must have the ability to work independently, make good decisions, and demonstrate sound judgment. Experience completing reports, maintaining database records, and maintaining files. Must have good computer skills and familiarity with iPAD functions. Must have good communication skills both written and verbal. Must demonstrate professional demeanor, show attention to detail, display punctual, and dependable attendance. Must be able to handle the physical rigors of the position including walking continuously during an 8-hour shift and lifting immobilization devices, scooters, barricades and cones into a pickup truck. Must have a clean driving record at time of hire and maintain an acceptable driver rating at all times. Must be eligible to operate a University vehicle under UT Drivers qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Six or more years working with the public or in direct customer service positions. At least five years of supervisory experience. Experience in hiring, evaluating and counseling employees. Prior experience working in a parking enforcement operation. Familiarity with T2 Flex software. Experience in successfully employing de-escalation techniques in stressful situations. Strong people skills.

Driver Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$54,000 + depending upon qualifications, plus a 10% shift differential
