Quality Source Inspectors ensure consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing and inspection practices and validating processes and providing accurate documentation for inspections. This position will drive continuous improvements throughout the facility through disciplined problem-solving techniques and by supporting CEC's Quality Policy, and other CEC policies and procedures and by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction. The Quality Source Inspector is responsible for inspecting and analyzing the more difficult electro- mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, parts, components, and/or devices with limited supervision at our supplier sites to ensure conformance to quality standards for correct assembly techniques.


Responsibilities

  • Travel to suppliers' facilities to conduct quality control inspections of materials and components
  • Monitor the suppliers' quality control activities to ensure they are following established procedures and align with drawings and technical data
  • When not traveling to supplier facilities, the source inspector will function as a member of the on-site Quality Inspection team
  • Performs the more difficult inspection of production assemblies, subassemblies, electronic parts, components, and/or devices to assure conformance to establish standards and specifications
  • Analyzes incorrect production techniques and recommends corrective action as needed
  • Performs routine electrical and/or mechanical tests and measurements to the degree of accuracy and tolerance as specified on documentation
  • Defines and recommends improved inspection methods and procedures
  • Uses established methods, sequences, and set-ups to visually inspect in-process and completed electronic and electro-mechanical units
  • Trains other inspectors and assemblers in production skills and quality standards
    Uses blueprints, assembly drawings, engineering drawings, and other specification documents to assure product conformance and maintains required documentation and records
  • May be assigned inspection project responsibilities as needed
    Assists in audits of inspection systems and hardware for compliance to company quality procedures
  • Participate in 3rd Party audits as necessary
  • Perform final check to ensure all assemblies and detail parts are free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and non-conformance issues
  • Assist in Return Material Authorization (RMA) and Non-Conforming Material Report (NCR) processes

Qualifications

  • Requires thoroughly developed electromechanical inspection skills and knowledge normally acquired after four (4) years of related experience
  • Must have prior experience and be knowledgeable about the IPC-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and become proficient with CEC's ERP systems for shop applications.

The job location will vary based on the production schedules of the suppliers. Reliable transportation for travel within the DFW Metroplex is required. Most facilities are usually temperature-controlled environments. Occasionally the work area will be in a testing area, which may not be temperature controlled. The noise level is usually moderate.
