Overview

Apogee is seeking a Airborne Launch Control System Instructor/Evaluator in support of the 95th Wing. You will provide qualification and continuation training as an instructor and evaluator in the Airborne Procedures Trainer and assist the Government in developing, refining, and improving initial and continuation training for the ALCS and the follow-on Secondary Launch Platform - Airborne.

This work is full-time on-site with approximately 15% of travel providing Test & Evaluation support services as a flying aircrew or ground support member located at Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska.



Responsibilities

    Responsible for training active-duty personnel for qualification/certification as a ALCS Operator in accordance with Air Force Global Strike Command Instruction (AFGSCI) 13-5202V1, ALCS Crew Training and Certification, Ready ICBM Program Tasking Memo (RTM), AFGSCI 13-5302, ALCS Crew Standardization and Evaluation, Air Force Instruction 91-117, Safety Rules for the ALCS, 95th Wing and USSTRATCOM Instructions & standard operating procedures, and other governing documents involving the following tasks:
    • Ensuring proper function and weapon system safety rule compliance of weapon system, which involve conducting ALCS startup, completion of upload test sequences, and proper control of code components.
    • Emergency procedure events to include Boldface items for fire or overheat conditions, loss of aircraft pressure, emergency power transfer, and volatization of code components during a crash environment.
    • Maintain & troubleshoot ALCS through fault processing and equipment removal/replacement procedures.
    • Execute ALCS airborne mission by ensuring reliable and redundant C2 to the President and launching 450 ICBMs as a secondary launch platform on POTUS direction through emergency war order procedures.
  • Requirements support: Work closely with existing Government workforce to provide expertise to assist in identifying system shortfalls, and aid in requirements definition, organization and prioritization for funding analysis, decision, and development of a fielding strategy for collaborative solutions.
    • Assist the Government in refining, enhancing and improving the process in system modernization, along with the performance of routine data analysis functions involving gathering, preparing, modeling, interpreting, and presenting data when required.
  • Acquisition support: assist the Government to refine, enhance, and improve the process in system modernization and support information requirements for the Secondary Launch Platform - Airborne (SLP-A) and Sentinel programs from external mission partners when required.
  • Test & Evaluation Planning and Execution Support: provide support for developmental and operational test planning and execution as an aircrew or ground support member, test training development and implementation, event scheduling and tracking. Review test sequence documents for MMIII Simulated Electronic Launches and Operational Test Launches for technical accuracy. Assist the Government in process improvement and the capture and resolution of test mission outcomes and deficiencies.
    • Aids in the creation, management, and execution of Sentinel test/evaluation strategy tailored to the specific needs of Sentinel and the Secondary Launch Capability and is consistent with statutory guidelines.
  • Technical Order Development & Production Support: Conduct and aid in the analysis of system designs and coordinate end-user inputs into the technical order authoring process. Assist the Government by reviewing publication change requests for format, accuracy, and usability prior to finalizing and fielding to operators as a subject matter expert. Assist the Government to refine, enhance and improve the process in technical order development when required.
  • Modification Training Development and Execution Support: Identify and develop training strategies for E-6B block modifications. Provide professional services to conduct analysis of modifications, identify changes in operational techniques and procedures, coordinate and prioritize software updates for the Virtual Airborne Procedures Trainer, and subsequently develop training concepts and strategies related to modifications for eventual assimilation into long-term weapon system training curricula.
  • Qualification and Continuation Training Development: Provide support services for assimilating block modifications and changes to HHQ guidance, emergency war order procedures, and technical orders.
    • Provide services to aid in the development and management of long-term training framework strategies altered by E-6B block modifications and the fielding of the Secondary Launch Platform-Airborne & Sentinel.
    • Update and develop initial qualification and continuation training scenarios for the classroom and trainer.
    • Assist the Government to refine, enhance, and improve the process for initial and continuation training.
    • Lead qualification and continuation training development tasks in the Formal Training Flight.
  • Mission Assurance: Provide weapon system sustainment support for the ALCS to include gap analysis and mitigation for spare parts, airspace coordination/scheduling of test missions, aircraft availability planning, nuclear certification, and coordination between multiple Federal Government departments and agencies on future considerations and program requirements to aid in the transition to SLP-A.
    • Support the client's primary mission by aiding parts procurement efforts to reduce weapon system risk and ensure action items and milestones are reviewed and integrated across diverse stakeholders.
  • Occasional flexible work schedules are required to provide support across several projects or tasks beyond a normal work week/day. Travel to various locations to support these tasks when directed.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a TS/SCI level security clearance

Certifications: FAA Third Class or Military Class III Flight Physical

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Years of Experience: 4 or more years of E-6B Flight experience as ALCS Operator-Instructor

Preferred Requirements:

Experience: Prior experience as ALCS Instructor & Evaluator; 13N (Nuclear and Missile Operations) officers with targeting experience in the 625 STOS or USSTRATCOM Air Room highly desired.
