Development Engineering Technician I

Basic Job Functions:



  • Will conduct developmental tests, outdoor field testing, module installation, Data Acquisition Equipment calibration and troubleshooting. May compile and analyze test data from performed testing and review results with engineering personnel to improve efficiency and stability of solar modules.


Education/Experience:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of experience in a technician role or 2 years of experience as an Engineering Test Support II or Master Manufacturing Technician at First Solar.
  • Associate Degree in an engineering discipline or similar technical discipline and 1year of experience in a technician role or 2 years of experience as an Engineering Test Support II or Master Manufacturing Technician at First Solar.
  • Bachelor Degree in an engineering discipline or similar technical discipline, without prior technical work experience.
  • Master Degree in an engineering discipline or similar technical discipline, without prior technical work experience.


Required Skills/Competencies:



  • Proven experience in test development, field installation and troubleshooting. Ability to learn the operation, calibration, and preventative maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access).
  • Intermediate knowledge of JMP and SQL desired.
  • Experience with using and handling electrical devices, including calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use analytical software to read charts and graphs to find trends.
  • Ability to apply statistical methods to analyze data desired.
  • Ability to communicate on a regular basis with all levels of associates.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability


Essential Responsibilities:



  • Apply basic skills and may develop advanced skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the position or specialization.
  • Duties and tasks are standardized. Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Work under daily supervision and follow standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Reporting Relationships:



  • This position reports to the Manager- Test Site Operations.


Travel:



  • 0-5% Travel Required.


Estimated Salary Range:



  • $18.89-$26.44 Hourly.


US Physical Requirements:



  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection).
