At MKBC, we save lives every day by providing blood products to hospitals in PA and NJ. The Volunteer Coordinator position supports the MKBC by ensuring a sufficient level of volunteers to meet all expected operational needs. The anticipated hourly wage starts at $17.29/hr and is commensurate with experience. In addition, Miller-Keystone offers the following to all full-time employees:

What you will be doing:



  • Maintains the schedules of all volunteers for assigned fixed sites and mobile drives and prepares reports as needed.
  • Assists in the recruitment, orientation, onboarding, and training of volunteers, coordination of special volunteer events, and annual volunteer training.
  • Provides coverage of the canteen and donor areas at all sites, fixed or mobile, when volunteers are not available.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned, becoming familiar with SOP's, and assisting with special projects.


What you will bring to the role:



  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required with 2 years of experience preferred in non-profit or healthcare setting with a focus on volunteerism.
  • A background in customer service is preferred.
  • Experience in Outlook, Microsoft office and Excel (preferred)
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and listening) to engage with donors, volunteers, and employees of all backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to maintain accuracy through strong attention to detail, coupled with a commitment to reliability and consistency in all tasks.
  • Strong work ethic including attendance, trust, and reliability.


  • A passion to work in a fast-paced environment and handle changing priorities to meet the needs of the blood center.



Additional information:

This position reports to the Director of Donor Relations out of our Reading location but will have the flexibility to travel to other fixed and mobile sites as needed. They will be responsible for working the following schedule:



  • Mon-Fri 8-4 with occasional evenings and weekends
  • Travel up to 30% of the time to support the needs of our donors and volunteers.
  • A current and clear driver's license is required.
