Responsibilities

As a member of the Admissions Team, the Admissions Therapist collaborates with the Admissions Team and psychiatrists to integrate relevant clinical data and substantiate medical necessity for recommended level of mental health care. This role is responsible for conducting mental health clinical interviews, completing safety risk and diagnostic assessments, and integrating relevant gathered clinical data as part of the multidisciplinary admissions process. This role may also render provisional mental health diagnoses and inform a patient's ongoing mental health treatment plan. This role provides clinical oversight and clinical supervision for unlicensed staff throughout Admissions, as appropriate and within scope of practice. This role also supports onboarding, training and precepting within Admissions, as appropriate. This role requires a high degree of case conceptualization, consultation, and collaboration with internal and external interdisciplinary resources in service of coordinating admissions for all levels of care within PrairieCare.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic interviews and assessments, face to face, in person, or virtual (via telehealth), with collaboration with psychiatry, to develop provisional diagnoses and determine, substantiate and justify level of care recommendation.
  • Provides crisis risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Collaborates with care team and caregivers to facilitate admission to the appropriate level of care including the inpatient unit, residential care, partial hospital programming, intensive outpatient programming, or outpatient clinic services.
  • Provides effective and positive patient care experience pursuant to the policies of PrairieCare.
  • Is oriented and educated in trauma informed, culturally responsive care (including gender, cultural differences, and age factors) for the assigned department.
  • Maintains current competency in effective de-escalation of patients using Collaborative Problem Solving , therapeutic self, relationship-based care, and trauma informed care, as applicable to role.
  • May provide other clinical coverage for therapists throughout the PrairieCare system, Admissions team, and perform other clinical duties within scope, as needed.
  • Provides clinical oversight, consultation, supervision, training, precepting and onboarding support for other members of Admissions, including for unlicensed/junior level licensed staff members, as appropriate and within scope of practice.

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • Requires a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related therapeutic field. Independent licensure as a mental health professional (e.g., LP, LPCC, LMFT, LICSW) in the state of Minnesota required.
    • Non-independently licensed candidate will be considered at an Associate level therapist. That role requires a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related therapeutic field. If your degree is in a closely related field and you are pursuing an LPCC, you must demonstrate that your education meets the coursework requirements of the license, either through your own comparison or an unofficial review with the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.
    • Licensure: Candidates must be licensed or actively pursuing clinical licensure in the state of Minnesota. This includes receiving clinical supervision and counting clinical supervision hours.
  • Two years of experience in behavioral healthcare is preferred
  • Must have knowledge of DSM-IV criteria
  • Skill in interviewing and assessment
  • Display a professional attitude in all aspects of his/her performance
  • Skills to communicate clearly and effectively with Clinical Directors and professionals within other organizations
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office Products including Word and Outlook
  • Must have reliable transportation and telephone
  • Ability to smoothly and rapidly shift between dissimilar tasks
  • Skills to communicate well both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergency situations
  • Ability to make effective decisions while in stressful situations and circumstances
  • After training, be able to manage disruptive and explosive patients.
  • Associate level license in State of Minnesota (LAMFT, LGSW, LPC) preferred.

Pay range for the Independently licensed position is $30-38 and for the Associate level therapist it is $26 to $34 depending on education, licensure, and experience.
