Role Purpose:

The IT Strategy & Governance Advisor supports Cleco's activities relating to information and technology; and ensures it is aligned with the overall business strategy. The IT Strategy & Governance Advisor will deliver a structure that allows the organization to align its IT goals with the business strategy and ensure future investments in information systems support company objectives. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving our organization's data governance, AI Strategy, and any future IT strategies by connecting concepts with practical applications. This individual will be responsible for ensuring our processes are right-sized, efficient, and automated where possible and consider the risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence.
  • Assist IT Leadership in defining and executing the corporate IT Strategy, linking this to the overall business strategy as well as in alignment with the annual budget planning cycle.
  • Design and develop metrics/KPIs that will assess an IT operating model maturity and progress over time based on business value and strategic business benefits.
  • Responsible for continuous IT risk assessment and the establishment of accountability for IT risk management.
  • Establish, develop, execute, and maintain Cleco IT's governance strategy and framework with key objectives, outcomes, critical initiatives, and success metrics.
  • Maintain the technology roadmap. Align to the company strategy and annual strategic priorities.
  • As part of data governance, orchestrate (with the business and IT) the identification of valid Artificial Intelligence (AI) use cases, and govern the use of data (internal and external) and applicable AI tools.
  • Provide oversight to the development, management and enablement of IT policies, and procedures.
  • Develops and implements AI governance frameworks to ensure ethical, compliant, and transparent AI
  • systems, aligning with industry regulations (e.g., NERC CIP, FERC) and internal standards.
  • Facilitate the development, adoption, and compliance of IT governance framework across all areas of business.
  • Ensures compliance with data privacy laws and regulations, safeguarding confidential and sensitive data in AI applications.
  • Facilitates the Technology Council program, including facilitating the Technology Council meetings.
  • Develops and delivers (i.e., training) educational, awareness, and mentoring materials.
  • Defines and governs the corporate Data Governance model. This includes identifying all data domains; defining the roles and responsibilities for each domains' data owners, and data stewards; defining the processes for data access and overall data usage.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including IT, Legal, Compliance, and Program teams to align proper governance
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5-7+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing governance strategies, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including written and verbal presentation.
  • Ability to translate technical or complex concepts into user-friendly language.
  • Demonstrated commitment to staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the field of data governance and management.
  • Detailed-oriented and high work standards in support of seamless execution.
  • Drive issues to resolution while maintaining an atmosphere of collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently, within a team environment and collaboratively with both functional and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible as priorities change, adaptable to change and able to accept ambiguity.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Salary dependent on experience, skills, education, and training.
