IT Operations Manager

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered.

The IT Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily management, maintenance, and performance of IT systems supporting global operational missions. This role is vital to ensuring the continuity and reliability of enterprise IT infrastructure in complex, resource-constrained environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IT systems oversight, enterprise network management, and a proactive approach to addressing operational and security challenges across geographically dispersed locations.

IT Operations Manager Responsibilities Include:

• Oversee IT operations including WAN, LAN, and server infrastructure supporting INL Air Wing activities across international and remote locations.

• Ensure reliable, secure, and efficient IT services to support aviation logistics, communications, and mission systems.

• Supervise IT support staff and coordinate with enterprise stakeholders on system performance, availability, and incident resolution.

• Lead deployment and sustainment of IT services and applications as required by U.S. Government (USG) standards and mission needs.

• Monitor network and system performance, identifying and addressing issues that may affect scope, schedule, or cost.

• Enforce Department of State cybersecurity and IT compliance policies, working closely with ISSO and security teams.

• Develop and maintain documentation, asset inventories, and maintenance logs to support continuity and audit readiness.

• Collaborate with the IT Program Manager and field operations teams to ensure alignment of operational priorities and IT capabilities.

• Provide technical leadership in diagnosing and resolving infrastructure-related issues in austere and mission-critical environments.

• Other duties as assigned to support mission requirements and system reliability.

IT Operations Manager Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Security, or related technical field.
• Certifications (Required):
  • Security+ (CompTIA) - Ensures sufficient security knowledge to address vulnerabilities and mitigate cyber threats.
  • Industry-recognized computer/networking certification (e.g., MCITP, CCNA) - Validates technical skill in identifying and resolving network operations issues.
• Experience:
  • Minimum 7 years supervising IT operations of similar scale and complexity.
  • At least 4 years in a formal IT supervisor role managing personnel and systems.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Proven success in deploying and maintaining WAN/LAN connectivity, server infrastructure, and critical IT services.
  • Ability to support operations in low-bandwidth or under-resourced environments.
  • Familiarity with DoS or DoD networks is a strong plus.
• Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong leadership and team coordination in high-stakes environments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and make timely decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and systems diagnostics across multiple platforms.
