Temple University's Information Technology Services Department is searching for an Endpoint Engineer I!

Position Summary

Temple University Information Technology Services is seeking a proficient, dedicated, and detail-oriented Endpoint Engineer 1 to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for the deployment and management of endpoint devices and related infrastructure across the organization, ensuring a secure, efficient, and highly functional environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Intune for advanced device management and troubleshooting complex endpoint issues.

Key Responsibilities (Intune):

*Configuration Management:Configure and maintain Intune policies and profiles to manage device settings, security controls, and application access within our Microsoft Windows environment (WIN10/11).

*Security Compliance:Monitor and enforce security compliance standards through Intune and Entra, implementing device encryption, conditional access policies, and other security measures to protect university resources.

*Troubleshooting:Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Intune-related issues, diagnosing and resolving problems related to device enrollment, application deployment, and policy enforcement.

*Research: Stay informed of new Intune features and capabilities, leveraging new functionalities to enhance device management and user experience in our environment.

Key Responsibilities (System Center Configuration Manager):

*Administer Microsoft SCCM for software deployment, patch management, and endpoint configuration management.

*Manage collection membership.

*Troubleshooting SCCM client issues.

*Create and monitor deployments of software updates, packages, and compliance items.

*Generate reports within System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) console or SQL in support of departmental and university-wide initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:

*Security: Ensures endpoint security by implementing and maintaining security using Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE).

*Troubleshooting: Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to endpoint devices, including root cause analysis.

*Collaboration: Works with other IT Tiers and teams, including security, operations, and school and college support, to ensure a seamless user experience.

*Documentation and Reporting: Maintains documentation, creates reports on device compliance and performance, and develops security policies and procedures.

*Automation: Uses scripting (e.g., PowerShell) to automate system administration tasks and optimize deployments.

*Continuous Improvement: Stays up to date on emerging trends in endpoint technologies and implements best practices.

Required Education and Experience:

*Bachelor's degree in a relevant IT field and at least 3 years of experience in endpoint management.

*Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID organization, PowerShell scripting, and remote access tools.

*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID

*Strong knowledge of Microsoft Intune and SCCM

*Knowledge of Windows Update for Business (Windows Patching)

*Advanced Hardware/Software troubleshooting skills

*Knowledge of MS Windows server and Windows desktop operating systems

*Operating System Evaluation and Testing

*Hardware Evaluation and Testing

*Strong understanding of system security in all environments

Essential duties:

*Exercising discretion in decision-making based on best practices, technical expertise, and professional judgment.

*Handling a wide range of customer support/service issues, personally communicating directly (electronically or in person) with university stakeholders.

*Making decisions proactively to improve the overall quality of support and services provided by Information Technology Services.

*Identifying business process improvement opportunities and follow up to ensure that they are vetted and then adopted.

*Working with other university business units as needed to solve procedural and technical challenges as they arise.

*Escalating technical and procedural issues to higher management as needed.

*Being cognizant of major university business processes/policies in order to understand the underlying causes of possible user issues and to be able to make informed decisions.

*Crisis management, which can occur during major system outages.

*Ability to adjust quickly to change

*Ability to adjust quickly to university business requirements.

*Work with support units across the university to ensure excellent customer service

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.

Salary Range: $58,850 - $85,000

A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.
