Sustainability Analyst Intern
Your tasks

Position Summary:

The role of the Sustainability Analyst Intern is to support the delivery of world-class sustainability consulting solutions and practices that are aligned with the long-term interests of our clients, the company, and the communities in which we live. This role is a critical component of SIG's diverse team of sustainability professionals tasked with delivering projects spanning all phases of the building lifecycle for a large roster of commercial real estate clients. The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about sustainability, a life-long learner, creative, flexible, and capable of providing detail-oriented documentation that results in quality project support that satisfies our project team's needs.

Responsibilities:

- Sustainability Project Management Support & Compliance Verification

Independently document individual tasks for a variety of projects, including but not limited to LEED BD+C, LEED ID+C, LEED O+M, Fitwel, WELL, and BREEAM.

Carefully review project materials prior to beginning work on the task, clarify any areas of question or concern related to expectations for deliverables, and/or timeline with the consultant

Analyze data related to energy usage, water efficiency, waste management, and other sustainability metrics and review these metrics with the consultants to ensure the project is tracking towards the client's goals.

Maintain certification policies and ensure they are up to date on the current requirements for certification compliance.

Gather supporting documentation and ensure thoroughness and quality

Support the development of internal tools as needed to support efficiency amongst the credit documentation processes

Research emerging sustainability trends and evolving compliance standards and requirements to support team's knowledge

Accurately track and log project work hours in internal time management and reporting systems.

Review the internal task tool regularly to ensure seamless support for consultants and project delivery

- Collaboration & Communication

Actively participate in weekly Team, Department, and/or Company Meetings as possible.

Provide content ideas and/or materials to the Marketing Department via Blog Posts or other marketing projects/initiatives.

Provide feedback and/or ideas for how to improve technical or operational processes.

Communicate with consultants on task progress, concern or question in a timely and proactive manner

Ensure clear, consistent and timely internal project communications on a variety of topics such as project needs, progress updates, and deliverable details via meetings, emails, calls and other appropriate communication channels

- Professional Development & Education

Support the development of training materials for credit documentation by providing feedback on

Participate in mid-internship evaluations to maintain a high level of transparency between the Intern Managers to achieve a balance of professional development and personal growth.

Engage in SIG's LEED Green Associate credential support program, specifically access study materials and properly prepare for exam.

The anticipated hourly pay for this internship position is $22/hour. Actual base pay will be determined based on various factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity.

Your qualifications

Education and Experience:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree related to Environmental Science, Sustainability, Biology, Business, Architecture, and/or recent graduates.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites

Strong communication skills

Organizational skills and strong work ethic

Interest and passion for sustainability and green building practices

Detail oriented
