We are looking for an experienced Sr. Technical Product Manager who is searching to do what they'll love - overseeing applications that support the operations and processes of a brick-and-mortar retailer! Do you have experience developing product roadmaps for applications and managing a team to execute on these roadmaps? Do you love food? If so, read on! We may have the role of a lifetime for you!
Trader Joe's is unlike any place you've ever worked. Trust us on that. The qualified Sr. Technical Product Manager has at least 6 years of relevant experience and is a raving fan of the Trader Joe's concept. A Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree in Product Management is strongly preferred. This role is based in our office in Monrovia, CA and we have an in office expectation of 5 days a week.
The Sr. Technical Product Manager is responsible for:
  • Owning product roadmaps, including writing product definitions, driving cross-functional execution, and working with stakeholders and the development team to assess tradeoffs and feasibility.
  • Establishing performance goals, developing measurable performance standards, and establishing necessary checkpoints to monitor progress on projects and Kaizens.
  • Managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, and driving strategy and capabilities while handing off to partner teams for detailed definition when applicable.
  • Setting and communicating project timelines, releasing schedules, and resetting expectations when things change.
  • Prioritizing effectively and balancing the feature roadmap with tech foundational efforts and bug fixes.
  • Managing the workload; making timely decisions, prioritizing effectively, solving problems, monitoring results, and taking remedial action where necessary for project teams.
  • Managing partner/vendor relationships for support.
  • Working in a fast-paced, ambiguous, process-light environment with a continuous focus on the customer experience and delivering business value.
The Sr. Technical Product Manager has:
  • 6+ years of experience as a Senior Product Manager, Product Owner, or Technical Product Manager.
  • Experience supporting a brick-and-mortar retailer with an understanding of the stores human resources and store department applications.
  • Experience managing direct staff and overseeing hiring, coaching, and performance reviews given this role will be managing employees, consultants, and other vendors.
  • Experience creating high-level design visualization and documentation to communicate designs and solutions (BRD, FDD, EPIC, and user stories).
  • Experience managing multiple product roadmaps each with multiple projects and ongoing activities.
  • Experience creating business process improvement documentation by modeling and mapping as-is and to-be processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of staff, including senior leadership, within and external to the organization to achieve goals.
  • Ability to influence and break down silos within an organization as well as across organizations.
  • Experience with critical and strategic thinking.
