What to Expect

The Autopilot FW Platforms Team is looking for a Software Engineer to develop infrastructure, backend services, and frameworks that empower engineering teams to validate their code.The emphasis of this role is not to design and execute test plans, but rather to build services that support developers in designing tests, iterating on features, and otherwise gaining confidence in their changes independently.This role will be responsible for designing and implementing the systems to automate scheduling and execution of tests, as well as provide tools to continuously analyze and improve products and the infrastructure itself.This position will be responsible for delivering robust, modular and easy to use code enabling rapid and efficient deployment of test systems.Tesla launches new products at a rapid pace and the systems are used by development teams to ensure Tesla products are best in class.


What You'll Do
  • Design, implement and deploy software frameworks to support HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing for Autopilot firmware and software
  • Deliver infrastructure-as-code technologies to maintain CI automation for Firmware Platforms project development
  • Create systems to easily review, visualize, and extract insights from large amounts of test results across a variety of test variants
  • Engage with and monitor teams to ensure tools make lives easier, and continuously make improvements

What You'll Bring
  • Expertise in software engineering and strong programming fundamentals in Python (e.g., Object-oriented programming, multi-threading, etc.)
  • Experience with containerization (Docker/Singularity) and CI (Jenkins/TeamCity/Artifactory), or equivalent
  • Comfortable with Linux/Unix environments and Bash, or similar scripting languages
  • Comfortable with GitHub, BitBucket, and git
  • Demonstrated background in testing and automation is a plus, but not required

    Expected Compensation
    $133,440 - $292,800/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
