Description

  • With supervision, provides daily support on recruitment, employee inquiries and concerns, management coaching, employee development, training, compensation actions, performance management, disciplinary actions and separations
  • Maintains an "open door" policy for all employees relative to concerns.
  • Responds to employee questions and requests in a timely manner.


  • Prepares and/or maintains employment related records for hiring, termination, leaves of absences, transfers, promotions, immigration, discipline, compensation.
  • Administers leaves of absence, including short-term and long-term disability leaves.


  • Functions as the primary point of contact with the customer on all HR pay and benefit matters involving plant employees. May assist with Payroll administration.
  • Manage and oversee the employee attendance program.
  • Ensure all new hires, including transfers, are onboarded appropriately so the transition is as smooth and effective as possible.
  • Administer policies and procedures for all employees; ensure employees are knowledgeable on all SunCoke policies.
  • Supports managers in establishing procedures and practices to help ensure compliance to all company policies and procedures.
  • Proactively anticipate potential employee relations issues and involve HR Manager as necessary.
  • Partner with plant HR Managers to provide guidance on all applicable systems and policies to ensure consistency of practice.


  • Supports HR Manager in talent acquisition processes including recruitment, selection, and retention.


  • Supports the implementation of training and development processes with local managers as directed by HR Manager.
