Job Summary:

The goal of the Financial & Process Analyst is to provide relevant, reliable, and consistent transparency of financial and sales data to the Management team and other decision-makers. The analyst extracts information from company software to build reports that drive informed decisions and will be responsible for controlling key processes and accounts for accuracy and completion.

This role will act as a key driver for process optimization, responsible for reviewing, standardizing, and improving finance-related business processes, with a particular focus on leveraging the capabilities of SAP S/4HANA. The analyst should be self-driven in developing and completing projects to enhance business productivity in all aspects and areas. This position will work closely with the Finance Team to achieve reporting deadlines and will have exposure to the senior management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The duties of this role are dynamic, with an expected allocation of time as outlined below. This breakdown serves as a guide and may shift based on business priorities and project cycles.

Projects (Approx. 35%)

  • Serves as a project member or lead for special projects.

  • Coordinating activities to ensure the project is advancing properly and to ensure the project is completed within the timeframes established.

  • Make recommendations based on findings when necessary.

Process Improvement (Approx. 25%)

  • Develop a strong understanding of key financial processes to help identify opportunities for standardization, efficiency gains, and improved controls.

  • Participate in initiatives to document, analyze, and improve financial workflows and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to support the optimization of SAP S/4HANA, helping to streamline and automate financial processes.

  • Assist in creating and maintaining process documentation, training materials, and performance metrics for key financial systems and activities.

  • Actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the Finance department.

Performs financial and business related analysis (Approx. 25%)

  • Analyzes, evaluates, and interprets appropriate financial and statistical data including but not limited to, Advanced reporting and controlling of Sales performance for multiple divisions, Expected and realized gross margins on a per order basis, and corporate departmental expenses.

  • Prepare financial analyses to model the impact of potential business decisions: invest in new markets or staff, exit underperforming business, etc.

  • Leading and documenting financial analysis projects including the preparation of ad hoc reports; to include but not limited to; gathering of data, analysis, documentation of findings, and calculation of results and generation of reports for distribution.

  • Independently pursues fundamental problem solving and documents the recommendations to management.

General Accounting Functions (Approx. 15%)

  • Assist in the month end closing process as required through the preparation of and posting of journal entries.

  • Assist in preparing for the annual audit and fiscal year end close as assigned

  • Performs various month-end reconciliations as assigned and prepare corrective journal entries

  • Update the ArcPlan/TM1 system for provided forecast changes in the corporate departments on a monthly basis.

Communicate effectively (Applied across all duties)

  • Effectively communicates with other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve problems.

  • Advises management of expected outcomes and recommends ways to improve them.

  • Conducts presentations to all levels of management to provide a summary of analysis regarding financial results and trends.

  • Communicates with Management on project status and completion deadlines.

Technical knowledge/skills

  • Proficiency in financial analysis and planning concepts; ability to learn and work with financial and operational reports.

  • Good understanding of accounting and business fundamentals.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and Microsoft PowerPoint/Google Slides.

  • Experience working with ERP systems is required; familiarity with SAP S/4HANA is highly preferred.

  • Exposure to process mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) or business intelligence tools (e.g., TM1, Prophix) is a plus.

General knowledge/skills

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.

  • 2-5 years of experience in a financial environment preferred

  • Designation of CPA, MBA, or CMA, or certification in a continuous improvement methodology (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.

Working Conditions: work is performed mostly within an office environment, but also is performed on a mining site within an industrial manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements: This position, at times, will require work to be performed in outdoor areas where hot, cold, dust, wet conditions, and rough terrain exist.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications. Base Salary Range: $68,000-$93,500
