SUMMARY: The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer is responsible for driving operational excellence and process improvement initiatives across the Waupun manufacturing facility. This role supports plant leadership and cross-functional teams in identifying inefficiencies, reducing waste, improving product flow, and increasing overall productivity using Lean Manufacturing principles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read to read and write English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagrams or schedule form. AUDITING ABILITY: Experience in Internal Auditing is preferred. Experience with applicable Quality Management Systems specifications is preferred, but may be obtained through combination of continued education and experience; this includes but is not limited to APQP, Control Plan, FMEA, MSA, PPAP and SPC (Core Tools), applicable Customer-Specific Requirements OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Able to work independently and with other members of the Engineering and Quality Departments and co-workers involved in the production process. Must understand computer operations and relevant software. Familiarity with statistical programs a plus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
