Job Purpose

As an Environmental Engineer/Scientist you will be responsible for direct project oversight and management of projects for the Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) department in order to maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental requirements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Promote and implement procedural best practices in order to ensure all project activities are performed in a safe, efficient and effective manner.
  • Manage an established OM&M program in Upstate New York, including all associated Site Management Plan (SMP) obligations.
  • Manage additional SIR projects from investigation through remedy implementation.
  • Routinely interface with regulators at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Responsible for providing technical support to other National Grid departments (i.e. Community, Legal, Real Estate, Electric Operations, Gas Operations).
  • Manage a team of environmental contractors and consultants and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Monitor and control a wide range of projects while maintaining financial and progress forecasting in order to ensure efficient and cost-effective implementation.
  • Must have a high degree of organizational and communication skills.
  • Ensure projects comply with internal and external safety standards, policies and processes and comply with applicable environmental laws, regulations and approved work plans.
  • Responsible for project-specific financial reporting in order to track budget spend and ensure effective financial management.
  • Administering complex projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (Geology, Environmental Science, etc.) or Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other related engineering discipline.
  • 5 plus years of professional development within a related area.
  • Professional certification or license (i.e., LSP, PE, LEP, CHMM, PG).
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Salary: $92,000 - $108,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
