Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director of Diagnostic Imaging Information Systems for Brown University Health, coordinates site Diagnostic Imaging Information Systems (DIIS) activities. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS) and Voice Recognition System (VR). Participates in the coordination and implementation of all interfaces and system upgrades. Ensures all DIIS systems meet the needs of the hospitals, the physicians and the Diagnostic Imaging department. Responsibilities: Monitors the daily performance of DIIS systems for assigned area to ensure optimum utilization of automated systems.
Participates in initial and continuing user orientation and training in systems functions as well as procedures specific to user needs to enter, process, and access information and images. Ensures efficient and appropriate use of systems. Responds to user questions regarding all DI system functionality, capabilities, usage, limitations, etc.
Participates in the development, modification and maintenance of systems to meet Diagnostic Imaging information needs. Such information includes physician dictation, patient and procedure information, statistics, billing codes, etc. Updates, defines, and deactivates codes as appropriate. Ensures data tables are up-to-date and accurate. Participates in communication of changes to users in a timely manner, following up to ensure appropriate procedures are followed.
Participates in the design, development, and production of reports, such as, statistical data, patient charges, inventories, and quality assurance reports to meet user needs.
Participates in the development and modification of policies and procedures as they relate to the Radiology Information System, PACS, and VR systems for Brown University Health.
Participates in Brown University Health's Diagnostic Imaging IS and operational meetings to address, develop and implement Enterprise wide systems solutions impacting Radiology.
Participates in the design, development, and maintenance of Brown University Health's Diagnostic Imaging website.
Grants and maintains appropriate user privileges within DIIS systems.
Performs other related duties as required. Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of baccalaureate degree in computer science or related field.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout Brown University Health with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years experience in PACS/RIS administration in a diagnostic imaging department including experience with hardware and software interfaces to maintain operations.
