About the Job

9 Month Appointment

OVERVIEW: This individual serves The University of Minnesota Department of Athletics. This position works with the coaching staff and is responsible for assisting with administrative and planning duties, and helping with coordination of practice for the softball program.

This position helps ensure that the Softball program operates in full compliance with the university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with the Coaches, Director of operations to plan, community outreach, external relations, and compliance with NCAA regulations. Along with throwing batting practice during practice.

  • 30% Work with the Director of operations for Softball on alumni relations andoutreach and student-athlete development
  • 10 % Work with coaching staff and Softball operations staff on yearly, weekly, and daily schedules
  • 10 % Assist the recruiting department with organizing on-campus recruiting visits for unofficial and official student-athlete prospects; assist with team calendar and daily schedules using Teamworks software
  • 30 % Assist coaches with practice set up and practice operations; including throwing batting practice.
  • 20 % Assist with team travel.

May supervise operations for student managers.

Frequently sitting, and moving, setting up practice. Includes moving machines and nets around.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Outdoor working environments, including team events, practices, competitions, and will be required to travel with the team travel in the spring.

Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.

Subject to and expected to comply with all applicable University policies and procedures. Additionally, this position must comply with university policies and procedures, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and experience playing softball at a high level.
  • Extensive knowledge of NCAA rules, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications
  • Ability to follow through and complete assigned tasks
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements: Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks, Also be able to help with practice by throwing batting practice, and move equipment. Understanding of practice operations and being able help run an effective practice, (catch in, hit fungo) at a high level.

Pay and Benefits

Pay: $34,110.51 annually

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
